Kampung Numbak folks urge action on catwalk bridges

Kota Kinabalu: Residents of Kg Numbak, who are Api-Api voters, have made complaints to newly-appointed Api-Api Community Development Leader (PPM), Theresa Chong Mui Lan about the dilapidated condition of several catwalk bridges and homes that need urgent attention. Chong said she received the complaints from Kg Numbak Chief Coordinator for Api-Api, Rano Buisay during her visit to the village on Wednesday. According to Buisay, he had brought the matter to former Api-Api PPM Grace Lee Li Mei's attention in recent years but no appropriate action was taken by the latter to rectify the village problems. 'The affected residents want their run down houses and the bridges to be repaired without further delay. They have also asked for the existing short jetty to be extended by another 50 feet, complete with roofing and railings for the safety and protection of children using the facility for their daily boat ride to school. 'I will convey the people's requests to Api-Api Assemblywoman Datuk Seri Christina Liew for the necessary action,' said Chong, who was accompanied by Liew's Special Officer Robert Penggai. Chong took over the helm as the new PPM on February 25 this year after Lee's appointment as Api-Api PPM was terminated by the relevant authority on February 24 this year for non-performance, resulting in the lack of development for the constituency. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
