Pankaj Tripathi is back as lawyer Madhav Mishra in 'Criminal Justice Season 4'. Over the years, the show has become a fan favourite, and so has his character. "When the show began, we didn't expect it to become this big. The first season was really good. When I heard Sriram Raghavan was involved in writing it. I was impressed. I thought it was an interesting show. Jackie Shroff was there, Vikrant Massey was there - so I felt it had potential. But whether it will run or not, no one can tell with any project."advertisementHe added, 'Just a little while ago, someone was counting all the seasons and prequels I've been a part of. So I quietly began counting too. And I realised - I'm in three seasons of 'Mirzapur', four of 'Criminal Justice', three parts of 'Fukrey', two of 'Stree' (I forgot if there's a fifth), and a few more." Pankaj continued, "When Shweta (Basu Prasad) said this was her first chance to repeat a role, none of us knew during the first season that there would be a sequel. That's how our industry is—like a milking cow. As long as it keeps giving milk, we keep milking. These shows are still running, so we keep going. The day we get bored, or the audience does, or the viewership drops, the platforms themselves will say, 'Bas, that's enough.' But until then, we keep trying.'Tripathi is genuinely excited about the new season. He said, 'I remember when I heard the first episode of this season's story—I felt it had spark. The writer is new, a young guy, and he has written it really well. It felt fun and interesting. So it's not like we're just doing it for the sake of it. We're involved too. The audience has trust in us. Even if we go for four or five seasons, the day we feel it's done, we'll let it go. "Very much. Life should be like that. I don't take acting too seriously—just like Madhav Mishra doesn't take law too seriously. In the courtroom, it may look like he's well-prepared, but the moment he starts speaking, you wonder where this is going. It feels like he didn't prepare anything and is just improvising on the spot. I do that deliberately—to keep it from looking too polished or rehearsed. I think that's what the audience connects with—that it feels like he's thinking on the spot, building the case in real-time. He's clever. He pretends not to be fully ready, but he knows exactly what to say and when to say it. It's a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed the domestic scenes with the wife. That part was reduced a bit this time. Those sequences used to be a lot of fun, one track going on in court, and a totally different one at home. I would advise them to give longer prison terms, say 30 to 40 years or even 50 years. Even in the Nirbhaya case I was against the death sentence. In my experience as a jailer I have seen that the death sentence is given to poor people who cannot afford a private advocate. 68% Report Gaps in Digital Accessibility and QA Expertise

Only one-third of respondents involve PWD in digital accessibility efforts, and half of the organisations testing AI and Gen AI exclude underrepresented voices, leading to biased results. Applause has released the results of its fifth annual State of Digital Quality in Accessibility survey, revealing growing awareness and adoption of inclusive design practices ahead of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) deadline as well as interest in adopting AI's accessibility-related capabilities. The survey of 1,500+ developers, engineers and QA, UX, and legal professionals also found gaps in relevant expertise and QA processes that would help ensure optimal experiences for all users. Despite a growing commitment to digital accessibility, organisations still lack the resources for continuous, independent testing. Many are turning to AI-driven solutions to supplement internal efforts, but additional investment, including in external expertise and support, is needed to bridge the gap. The survey also revealed that not enough AI and generative AI (Gen AI) developers are seeking input from diverse user groups, including people with disabilities (PWD) – a critical oversight that risks reinforcing bias and limiting the inclusive potential of these technologies. Fewer than 6% consider it a low priority or not a priority at all. 80% have a person or group at their organisation responsible for ensuring products are accessible – up from 52% in 2022. And, 86% of them are employing inclusive design principles at the planning stage. Teams are more educated on the topic of digital accessibility, with knowledge ticking upward for the past four years, most notably in the areas of 'advanced' and 'basic' understanding. This year, nearly three-quarters of respondents rated their current understanding as 'intermediate' (36%), 'advanced' (30%) or 'expert' (8%). Expertise and QA Challenges Persist Despite Growing Awareness Even with dedicated roles and teams overseeing accessibility efforts, 68% of respondents still reported that they lack the expertise and resources to test for accessibility independently, on an ongoing basis. Only one-third of respondents said they directly engage PWD in digital accessibility efforts. And, half of the organisations testing AI and Gen AI products are not including underrepresented viewpoints, including those of PWD, contributing to biased results. 48% do not have or do not know if they have processes in place to stop the release of inaccessible features into production. AI and Automation Spark Optimism in Accessibility Solutions 47% of respondents said AI currently provides significant value to accessibility testing, while another 37% believe it will in the next two years. 59% of respondents indicated that they use or plan to use automated tools, which can help identify up to 40% of accessibility issues. 40% of respondents plan to use AI to solve accessibility issues within their organisation, while 31% don't know if they'll use AI in this way. 'Our latest survey reveals an increasingly inclusive mindset among the software development community. Organisations want to optimise digital experiences for all users – not just check the compliance box, though the upcoming EAA deadline is certainly on their radar,' said Bob Farrell, Vice President, Solution Delivery & Accessibility, Applause. Broadway superstar Charles Strouse - who composed music for Annie and Applause - has died at 96. The composer's career spanned more than five decades and he became a leading player in classic musical theatre. He won three Tony Awards, including the 1970 gong for Best Musical for Applause. His publicist announced the musician died at his home in New York City on Thursday. He was born in the city in 1928 and had a huge influence on the theatre since there, writing more than a dozen Broadway musicals, including Bye Bye Birdie and its sequel Bring Back Birdie 21 years later. His scores, including pieces for films and TV shows, were catchy and popular. The optimistic anthem for Annie won the 1977 Tony Award for Best Original Score. Mr Strouse's upbeat numbers helped drive his zest to forge a long career in the industry, writing scores until 2011 at the age of 83. During an interview on the eve of his 80th birthday in 2008, Mr Strouse said: "When you enjoy doing what you're doing, which I do very much, I have something to get up for. I work every day. Activity — it's a life force." The composer, who is survived by his four children, visited tours of his shows and met casts in the 1990s. Jenn Thompson, who appeared in the first Annie as Pepper and directed a touring version in 2024, recalls Mr Strouse coming to auditions and shedding a tear when a young girl sang Tomorrow. She recalled: "He was tearing up and he put his hand on mine. And he leaned in to me and very quietly said, 'That was you. That used to be you.' And I thought I would die. I thought my heart would drop out of my shoes... He's so gorgeously generous and kind. He has always been that way." Some of the composer's later pieces were praised too. The music for Nick & Nora was nominated for a Tony in 1992 after impressing audiences in Broadway. The play told the story about a high society couple attempting to solve the murder of a bookkeeper on a film production in Hollywood. It was a steel reflected in Mr Strouse, who throughout his career remained determined and optimistic. He saw Annie become of the most popular musicals Broadway has seen. There has been more than 2,300 performances of the musical, based on the book by Thomas Meehan. It has toured frequently in the UK, including in 2023. Jay-Z was even a fan, and he used shards of the work for his 1998 Grammy-winning album Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life. Even Ms Strouse's flops contained impressive music, particularly Rags in 1986, with lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and I and Albert in 1972, a musical about Queen Victoria which had a three-month run in London and was one of Mr Strouse's personal favorites. All-American also had a memorable ballad Once Upon a Time. Among Mr Strouse's film scores were the music for Bonnie and Clyde in 1967 and 1968's The Night They Raided Minsky's. One of his last musicals was Minsky's. A love story set against the backdrop of the fabled burlesque empire, it was the brainchild of English director Mike Ockrent, who died of leukemia in 1999 before the project was completed. By then, Strouse and lyricist Susan Birkenhead had written some dozen songs. The composer's wife, Barbara, died in 2023. They had been married for more than 60 years and had four children; Ben, Nick, Victoria and William, together.
