Town of Vestal launches new website
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Town of Vestal has a new website that promises to be more attractive, more informative and more interactive.
Supervisor Maria Sexton says she's fulfilling a campaign promise to improve the town's digital platform in order to boost transparency and encourage resident engagement.
Sexton says the town contracted with a national firm called Apptegy to design and maintain the site. She says the new site makes it much easier for individual departments to get important information out to residents.
Sexton says they're currently building out their individual pages. She says the website will also be able to host resident surveys and there's a place to submit feedback about the new design.
Sexton says she reads every one of the messages that are sent and replies when able.
'That amount of communication, that ability to do that, is huge for me. I can directly hear how people feel about the website and what they want,' said Sexton.
Along with the website, there's a new mobile app that residents can download and sign up for a variety of push alerts.
Sexton says the first such push alert went out today regarding construction that is impacting traffic on Jensen Road. That information is also posted at the top of the website.
Sexton says the site will also have video recordings of town board meetings as well as agendas and supporting documents.
