Iraq seeks deeper US partnership
Shafaq News/ Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met, on Saturday, with US Senators Angus King and James Lankford, reaffirming Iraq's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the United States. According to the PM's office, the talks focused on expanding cooperation under the Iraq–US Strategic Framework Agreement, with al-Sudani highlighting energy sector reforms and encouraging greater US investment in oil, gas, and infrastructure. He also discussed plans to transition Iraq's role within the US-led Global Coalition, shifting toward an 'advisory and capacity-building' phase for Iraqi security forces. In turn, the senators commended Iraq's 'successful hosting' of the Arab League and Arab Development summits, and expressed US support for reconstruction and long-term cooperation.

Solidarity call: Iraq, Lebanon leaders discuss ties
Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun held a phone call to discuss bilateral ties, according to a statement from the al-Sudani's office. The two leaders reviewed ways to enhance ties across political and economic sectors, with a focus on mutual interests and regional stability. The discussion also addressed recent security developments affecting Lebanese territory, with al-Sudani reaffirming Iraq's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Aoun welcomed Iraq's stance and expressed appreciation for its continued support, and congratulated Baghdad on hosting the Arab League and Arab Development summits, acknowledging the importance of the outcomes. During the call, Aoun also praised al-Sudani's proposal to establish an Arab Solidarity Fund for the reconstruction of Lebanon and Gaza, describing it as a constructiveinitiative. Earlier, the prime minister announced that Iraq will contribute $20 million toward the reconstruction of Gaza and another $20 million for Lebanon, while proposing the establishment of an Arab Reconstruction Fund to support post-conflict recovery across the region.

Al-Awadi: The level of representation at the Arab Summit will be honorable and befitting Iraq
Baghdad – INA Iraqi government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi confirmed on Wednesday that the level of representation at the Arab Summit will be honorable and befitting Iraq, and that there will be pleasant surprises. Al-Awadi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Registration on the summit's dedicated platform for the delegations is very honorable and befitting Iraq, and there will be pleasant surprises regarding the level and weight of representation." He added, "What is being reported about heads of state abstaining from attending is inaccurate, and we confirm that representation will be honorable." Baghdad will host the Arab Foreign Ministry's preparatory meeting for the Arab Summit on Thursday, while next Saturday, the Arab League Council will hold a summit-level meeting (the Arab Summit) as well as the Arab Development, Economic, and Social Summit.

The Preparatory Meeting of Arab Economic and Social Council Convenes
Baghdad-INA The Arab Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level convened today, Tuesday, a preparatory meeting for the Fifth Session of the Arab Development, Economic, and Social Summit in Baghdad. The correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency-INA said 'The meeting is being held at the ministerial level of participating countries in preparation for the Fifth Session of the Arab Development Summit in Baghdad'. The proceedings of the opening session include an address by the Minister of Economy and Trade of the Lebanese Republic, Amer Bisat, representing the presidency of the previous session of the Development Organization; an address by the Minister of Trade, Atheer Dawood Salman, representing the presidency of the current summit session; and an address by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. The closed working session will include the adoption of the draft agenda for the Development Summit, discussion of its items, followed by a luncheon session and then the closed concluding session, which will include the adoption of draft resolutions. It is noteworthy that the Economic and Social Council at the level of senior officials, which held its session on Monday, approved a set of recommendations that were submitted to today's ministerial preparatory meeting, in preparation for the Development Summit scheduled to be held on May 17.
