President of the Republic Joseph Aoun received an official letter from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko delivered by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, inviting him to visit Belarus and affirming the desire to strengthen bilateral relations. President Aoun expressed gratitude for the donation of ambulances Lebanon received from Belarus yesterday.
President Aoun also met with Minister of Information Paul Morcos with whom he discussed the state of the ministry and Télé Liban, as well as the progress of the new media law currently under review by Parliament's Administration and Justice Committee. Morcos informed the president of his upcoming participation in the Arab Information Ministers Conference in Baghdad.
Separately, Aoun held talks with Imran Riza, Deputy UN Special Coordinator, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, regarding the work of UN agencies in the country. He also received General Security Director General Maj. Gen. Edgar Laounis, who briefed him on the agency's operations across governorates, particularly efforts to combat corruption.
