- Mona Al Marri discusses role of youth in shaping media landscape with members of the Arab Young Media Leaders Program Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, President of the Dubai Press Club, and Chairperson of the Organising Committee of the Arab Media Summit, met with members of the Arab Young Media Leaders Program, organised by the Arab Youth Center. The inspiring session was moderated by Sadeq Jarrar, Executive Director of the Arab Youth Center. The meeting took place on the first day of the Arab Media Summit, which runs until 28 May in Dubai, as part of the Arab Youth Media Forum's activities. During the meeting, one of a series organised by the programme, Her Excellency Al Marri highlighted key aspects of the media landscape in the UAE and the region and shed light on experiences in supporting and empowering youth in this vital sector. In the presence of His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the UAE President, along with several leaders of local and regional media organisations, Her Excellency Al Marri shed light the pioneering role of the Dubai Press Club and its various initiatives, most notably the Arab Media Summit. She highlighted the Summit's main events, including the Arab Media Forum, the Arab Youth Media Forum, and the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit, in addition to the Arab Media Award, the Ibda'a – Arab Youth Media Award, and the Arab Social Media Influencers Award. Her Excellency emphasised that a significant part of these initiatives focuses on youth, underscoring their commitment to nurturing young media talent and providing a fertile environment for creativity through specialised awards and supportive training programmes. Her Excellency also spoke about the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in empowering youth and involving them in decision-making positions, giving them ample space to contribute to planning, ideation, and implementation, especially in areas related to shaping the future. Her Excellency Al Marri stressed the importance of youth possessing passion, perseverance, and patience, noting that opportunities are not waited for but created. She pointed out that thinking outside the box and the ability to read and analyse the media landscape are essential tools for creating opportunities today in a highly competitive environment. She also emphasised the importance of specialisation, particularly in cultural and historical content, linking it to the art of storytelling as one of the most important aspects of media influence. Her Excellency explained that it is essential for young people to have the skills necessary to keep pace with modern technologies and to master the art of storytelling in all its forms. In conclusion, Her Excellency stressed the importance of taking the initiative, saying: "Those who don't have a story to tell will become part of a story told by others. Sharjah: Reflecting Sharjah's leadership as the capital of Arab media, Sharjah Media City (Shams) welcomed a new batch of participants from the future of Arab media. The program, organized by the Arab Youth Center, featured 55 young men and women representing 18 Arab countries. This visit came as part of Shams' commitment to empowering the new generation of media professionals and providing them with the skills and expertise they need to keep pace with the rapid transformations in the modern media industry, particularly in the field of digital audio content such as podcasts, which is one of the fastest-growing and most attractive media formats for today's youth. His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director General of Sharjah Media City (Shams), emphasized that youth are the true engine of any media renaissance, emphasizing the importance of keeping pace with modern media transformations. HE said, "We at Sharjah Media City (Shams) believe that youth are the true engine of any modern media renaissance." From this perspective, we are keen to harness our capabilities and projects to support and empower them, providing them with the necessary tools to create meaningful, innovative, and future-proof Arabic content." 4th Arab meeting for young leaders convenes under the title ‘Made in the Arab World'
UAE, Dubai: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Office of Development and Martyrs Families Affairs at the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Arab Youth Center, the World Governments Summit 2025 will host the 4th Arab Meeting for Young Leaders, organized by the Arab Youth Center in collaboration with the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports. The meeting will take place on 10 February 2025. Titled ' Made in the Arab World: Arab Identity, Global Impact', the 4th edition of the meeting is set to convene over 200 Arab youth ministers, community leaders and representatives from Arab development organizations. A select group of young leaders from various specialized fields from all Arab countries will also attend. His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: 'The Arab Meeting for Young Leaders has become a key platform for highlighting the vital role of youth in driving development and finding innovative solutions to the challenges facing Arab societies. It underscores the importance of empowering and supporting young people to become active participants in building a brighter future for their communities and nations.' His Highness Sheikh Theyab welcomed the participation of youth, leaders of youth organizations, and a select group of young leaders who will gather in the UAE on February 10th. He commended their efforts to strengthen pan-Arab youth collaboration and advance the meeting's outcomes and recommendations focusing on capacity building, youth empowerment, talent discovery, and the support of creative individuals. Hi Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Arab Youth Center said: 'We are committed to making 2025 a year of amplified efforts to empower youth across the region. Building on the successes and insights from previous Arab Meetings for Young Leaders, we will explore key ideas and proposals for creating opportunities for youth within both the private and public sectors. These contributions will foster a vibrant social economy through collaborative local and regional initiatives dedicated to youth empowerment.' His Excellency Al Neyadi added: "The fourth edition of this meeting will feature a ministerial discussion panel with institutional leaders and influential young figures from diverse fields. Experts will also address the promotion of national industries, Arab government initiatives empowering youth in the private sector, and the role of international organizations in providing job training within the Arab region. Furthermore, the meeting will unveil findings from reports and studies on the potential and competitiveness of Arab youth in the job market." The Arab Meeting for Young Leaders serves as a platform for collaboration among entities invested in empowering Arab youth across diverse developmental pathways. It showcases best practices and innovative ideas, while also acting as a launchpad for regional initiatives designed to build capacity, develop skills, and create enabling environments.
