Bougie on a budget: Affordable lobster at Slapfish

Tell me, friends — what's more bougie than lobster? Not much, right?! It's fancy, delicious… and pricey. Yes, but: There's a seafood spot putting lobster within reach, without having to shell out too many clams. Yes, and: It doesn't rhyme with Bread Blobster. Where to go: Slapfish, a seafood shack where the lobster comes in all shapes, sizes and budgets. What to get: You can go all out with the $55 lobster boil. That'll get you a whole poached lobster, clam chowder, lobster tots, fries and slaw. If you're bougie on a smaller budget, go for the $18 clobster grilled cheese (lobster, crab and mozzarella on sourdough) or the $9 lobster taquitos. 💭 Arika's thought bubble: I had the lobster grinder, which is chilled shredded lobster and crab with chunks of shrimp and spicy aioli overflowing from a split top butter roll. It comes with a side of fries, salad or slaw. At $17, it was about two-thirds the price of the traditional lobster roll but seriously just as satisfying. If you go: Slapfish has locations on Mass Ave and in Fishers and Noblesville.

Inside Rise & Revel, Fountain Square's new coffee and cocktail spot

Fountain Square's newest coffee shop has a whiskey problem. Driving the brews: West Fork Whiskey opened Rise & Revel, a cocktail bar that sunlights as a coffee shop, on the ground floor of the Union Square apartments. Flashback: West Fork closed its Kennedy-King tasting room last fall, leaving the Westfield-based distiller without an Indianapolis presence. 💭 Arika's thought bubble: It's a cozy spot, but you can tell that coffee isn't the shop's first or second priority. It operates like a cocktail bar, with small menus placed around the space and open ordering along the concrete bar top. It's a little confusing at first if you walk in expecting a more traditional coffeehouse experience. My latte was solid, though coffee offerings are on the basic side — espresso, lattes, matcha, a few flavored syrups and a seasonal drink. Yes, but: The cocktail menu is more robust. By night, Rise & Revel is serving up more than a dozen craft cocktails, plus beer, wine and, of course, West Fork's various whiskey offerings. If you go: 1233 Shelby St., Suite 125.

Old news: Butler's (almost) cinderella story

Fifteen years ago, the Butler men's basketball team punched their ticket to the program's first Elite Eight appearance in school history. Why it matters: The 2009-10 season was the first of two back-to-back NCAA championship runs for Butler, solidifying the mid-major's place in hoops history and America's heart as the ultimate underdog. Driving the (old) news: Led by beloved, babyfaced head coach Brad Stevens, the fifth-seeded Bulldogs upset No. 1 Syracuse in a nail-biter of a Sweet Sixteen game. Butler had just eked out a second-round win against No. 13 Murray State, while Syracuse had rolled over No. 8 Gonzaga by more than 20 points. With just over five minutes left, Butler trailed 50-54. After a critical time out, the Bulldogs held the Orange scoreless for the next five minutes to take a 61-54 lead. Butler ultimately won, 63-59, to put themselves just one win away from the Final Four in Indy at Lucas Oil Stadium. 💭 Arika's thought bubble: I was a junior at Butler that year. That 2010 run was so magical that we became the team that everyone else rooted for once their own team lost. By the time we were playing Duke for the national championship, who everyone already loved to hate — at home in Indy, no less — it felt like the whole country was on our side. Too bad that shot wasn't.
