Increased military traffic towards Barling expected through end of June
ARKANSAS (KNWA/KFTA) — Military vehicle traffic is expected to increase on Arkansas highways and interstates starting Friday, May 30, and continuing through the end of June. The Arkansas National Guard will be conducting its annual training exercises during this time, according to a news release. Troops will travel from various armories across the state to Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center in Barling. Convoys will consist of large, tactical vehicles that typically move at slower speeds than regular traffic. Arkansas National Guard sends 60 to Guatemala for multi-national exercise
Video: 'We're just folks helping other folks' Arkansas National Guardsmen helping drivers stuck in the snow NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Sixty Arkansas National Guard troops are participating in an international military exercise in Guatemala. The guard is participating in CENTAM Guardian 2025. Officials said the exercise is intended to strengthen interoperability, information sharing and counter-threat capabilities between the United States and participating Central American and Caribbean partner nations. Arkansas National Guard mobilizes for flood response The exercise began on May 12 and ends on May 23. It is not, officials said, connected to any real-world event. Guardsmen from the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 188th Wing, 77th Theater Aviation Brigade, 142nd Field Artillery Brigade and 233rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute are participating, providing infantry support, medical assistance and interpretation duties. 'We will be deploying and supporting a field hospital and community outreach for local nationals in and around Jutiapa, Guatemala, ' 188th Medical Group commander Lt. Col Peter Mudge said. 'The team plans to see 400 patients a day for five or more days.' Arkansas National Guard gets change of command Military and security forces from Guatemala, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, and the United States will participate in the exercise, building upon the success of previous Guardian exercises held annually since 2018. Arkansas National Guard mobilizes for flood response
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas National Guard has mobilized troops in anticipation of heavy rains and flooding due the first week of April. Officials said Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders mobilized more than 40 Guardsmen in northeast Arkansas to assist local authorities with any evacuations. Arkansas National Guard to assist with winter weather response The guardsmen are organized into teams. Each high-water team has three light-medium tactical vehicles (LMTV), a four-wheel-drive 2.5-ton cargo and troop transporter vehicle, a Humvee and nine Guardsmen. Each LMTV can carry up to 16 passengers in the cargo compartment. The 875th Engineer Battalion in Jonesboro will provide three high-water teams. The 224th Maintenance Company in Mountain Home will provide one high-water team. In addition to the 36 Guardsmen on the ground, liaison officers at the unit level, Joint Operations Center and a public affairs team will round out support at a total of 42 Guardsmen. Arkansas National Guard mobilized as part of severe weather response 'The anticipated rainfall amount can prove to be challenging,' Arkansas adjutant general Brig. Gen. Chad Bridges said. 'In supporting the Governor's direction, the Arkansas National Guard will assist local authorities and help Arkansans get through this.
