Controversial Arley abattoir's expansion plan refused

An abattoir shut down by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) following an investigation into animal welfare breaches has had a retrospective application to expand the site refused.T&S Abattoir, in the village of Arley, had asked North Warwickshire Borough Council for permission for changes which have already been made to its the planning committee rejected the request, highlighting concerns with road safety as well as noise and abattoir's licence had already been revoked after an animal rights activist released footage filmed covertly at the site. Lorries are frequently blocking access for other traffic causing disruption and frustration for residents just trying to go about their daily lives." Woman dies after car overturns in crash in Arley

A woman in her 20s has died after a car overturned in Warwickshire. The single-car incident, which involved a blue Mazda, happened in Spring Hill, Arley, at about 06:30 BST on Thursday, Warwickshire Police was given "basic life support" by bystanders following the crash, West Midlands Ambulance Service woman was then treated by ambulance staff but she died at the scene. Warwickshire Police said an investigation was under way and called for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the force.
