69-year-old Des Plaines man dies after 2-car rollover crash late Saturday afternoon in Arlington Heights, police say
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — A 69-year-man from Des Plaines has died from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle rollover crash late Saturday afternoon in northwest suburban Arlington Heights, according to an update issued Sunday morning by the Arlington Heights Police Department.
The man, who was driving a Jeep, received life-threatening injuries from the crash and was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge after being treated at the scene by paramedics from the Arlington Heights Fire Department.

The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by Lutheran General medical staff just before 4:15 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has been notified of the man's death, but his identity is not being released until family has been notified.
According to police, the crash occurred at the intersection of Lake Cook Road and Bloomington Avenue, in the far northwest part of Arlington Heights. Police and fire personnel from Arlington Heights responded just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday to the crash, originally reported at a slightly different location, police say.
Emergency personnel quickly located the crash further west at Bloomington Ave.

According a preliminary investigation, police say a dark gray BMW M340i was going east on Lake Cook Road above the speed limit. A metallic brown Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by the 69-year-old man, was pulling forward from a stop sign on Bloomington Ave., entering Lake Cook Road, when it was hit by the BMW on the driver's side, causing a 'T-bone-type impact.'
Police say the crash caused the Jeep to roll over several times before coming to rest on the westbound side of Lake Cook Road. A significant intrusion into the Jeep's driver's side door was reported.
Paramedics removed the 69-year-old man from the Jeep and immediately began life-support treatment.
Meanwhile, police say the driver of the BMW, an 18-year-old male from Deer Park, and two teenage passengers were evaluated by paramedics and refused further care. They were then picked up by family and self-transported for medical evaluation.

Police say a third teenage passenger was taken by paramedics from the Palatine Fire Department to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
The incident remains under investigation by the Arlington Heights Police Department, with assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team-Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction special investigative unit.
