Armaan Jaffer quits Mumbai for Pondicherry

Armaan Jaffer
, once touted as the next big batting gun from Mumbai and the nephew of former India opener Wasim Jaffer, has decided to move from Mumbai to Pondicherry.
A few days back, the 26-year-old had submitted a request for a No-Objection certificate to the Mumbai Cricket Association.
"Yes, Arman has decided to quit Mumbai and move to Pondicherry.
We've given him the NOC, and wish him all the best," MCA secretary Abhay Hadap told TOI on Tuesday.

"We've officially confirmed three players-Armaan Jaffer (Mumbai batter), Siddhant Adatrao (wicketkeeper from Mumbai) and ?Puneet Datey (pace-bowling allrounder from Madhya Pradesh) as the guest players for the 2025-26 season," said P Damodaren, president of the Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP).
Armaan played 15 first-class matches, in which he scored 769 runs with three hundreds and a fifty. He has also scored 546 runs in 15 List A matches@42.00, with one hundred and two fifties, and one T20, in which he scored 27 runs. He played the last time for Mumbai in Jan 2023 in Mumbai's last league game of the
Ranji Trophy
against Maharashtra at the Brabourne Stadium, and was out for 19 & 16.

Armaan rose into the limelight when he cracked three double hundreds on the trot for the Mumbai Under-19 team in Dec 2015. In 2016, he played for the India Under-19 team, coached by the legendary Rahul Dravid, scoring 160 runs in six matches@32.00, with one fifty. In Nov 2018, he scored a triple hundred for the Mumbai Under-23 team against Saurashtra. In Nov 2019, he played and did well for the India Under-23 team in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
A few years back, he was a part of the squad for the Punjab Kings in the IPL. He was a part of the Mumbai team which reached the final of the 2022 Ranji Trophy, scoring 240 runs in five matches@30.00.
