Report: Third US-Israeli aid centre to begin operating today
The third aid centre backed by the US and Israel will be opening up on Thursday in central Gaza, south of the Netzarim Corridor, according to Israel's Army Radio. The new distribution centre will provide food and humanitarian aid to 300,000 Palestinians every week and aims to push people from Gaza City and the northern part of the Strip to evacuate south, the report said. The UN and international humanitarian groups criticise the US-Israeli aid centres run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, saying that the foundation weaponises aid.

Israel says it killed Mohammed Sinwar, head of Hamas in Gaza
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Israel said it killed the top commander of Hamas in Gaza, confirming reports from earlier this month. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told parliament Wednesday that Mohammed Sinwar - the brother and successor of deceased Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar - was among senior members of the Iran-backed group killed in recent Israeli military strikes. Hamas didn't confirm the death. Mohammed Sinwar, a longstanding Hamas operative, had assumed the top combat role in the Palestinian militant group after his brother Yahya - the mastermind of the Oct. 7, 2023, assault on Israel that triggered the war - was killed by Israeli forces in October. Mohammed was considered a hard-liner regarding talks on a ceasefire with Israel and release of hostages. The confirmation comes as negotiations for a truce continue. Hamas, designated a terrorist organization by the United States and many other countries, released a statement Wednesday saying it had agreed, in broad terms, to a proposal from Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's main Middle East envoy. The prospects of a deal being reached remain unclear. While Hamas said it would agree to free 10 hostages in return for the release of Palestinians jailed in Israel, it did not state it would lay down arms and send remaining leaders into exile - conditions Israel has insisted on for any agreement. Israel and the U.S. didn't immediately react to the statement posted on Hamas' official telegram channel. Earlier this month, Sinwar was targeted by a May 13 military strike in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis. At the time, an Israeli official suggested Sinwar's elimination could help talks. "I reckon that this will make it easier to get a deal," Security Cabinet Minister Zev Elkin said when asked on Army Radio what impact the then-unconfirmed death would have. "It's no secret that Mohammed Sinwar was the most problematic factor in these entire negotiations, going back a long time." Sinwar's senior deputy, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, is his likely successor. Haddad commands Hamas in Gaza City and other northern areas. The war began after thousands of Hamas operatives crossed into Israel, killing 1,200 people and abducting 250 others. More than 53,000 Palestinians have been killed in the ensuing war, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry. Israel has lost more than 400 troops in Gaza combat. Meanwhile, a foundation backed by Israel and the U.S. to hand out aid in Gaza said it's operating for a second day, and denied reports of deaths when Palestinians overran a distribution site Tuesday. Israel had blocked aid from entering the territory after a ceasefire expired in March. Copyright (C) 2025, Tribune Content Agency, LLC. Portions copyrighted by the respective providers.

'Israeli' strike allegedly attempts to assassinate Mohammed Sinwar: Hebrew media
'Israeli' Army Radio reported today that the 'Israeli' Air Force launched an airstrike near the European Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, targeting Mohammed Sinwar, the military wing leader of Hamas. According to The Jerusalem Post, the strike was part of an attempt to assassinate Sinwar, who replaced his brother, Yahya Sinwar, as the new Hamas leader following Yahya's assassination in October. The IOF confirmed earlier on Tuesday that they had targeted two hospitals, including the European Hospital and Nasser Hospital, which were being allegedly used by Hamas militants as command centers. The airstrikes hit the European Hospital's emergency department, maintenance area, and surrounding areas near the Ihsan al-Agha shelter center and Jenin refugee shelters. Three martyrs were recovered, with several others injured. The Nasser Medical Complex declared a state of emergency, as the European Hospital could not handle the large number of casualties.

Has Donald Trump cut contact with one of his closest friends, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu? Here's the reason cited in reports
Trump cuts ties with Netanyahu over alleged manipulation, says Israeli media- In a surprising development, Donald Trump has reportedly cut off direct communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a report by Israel's Army Radio, as cited by Anadolu news agency. The decision is believed to stem from concerns that Netanyahu may be manipulating the U.S. president — a move that insiders say Trump viewed as both personal and political betrayal. #Operation Sindoor The damage done at Pak bases as India strikes to avenge Pahalgam Why Pakistan pleaded to end hostilities Kashmir's Pahalgam sparks Karachi's nightmare Why did Trump suddenly cut contact with Netanyahu? The tipping point, according to Israeli journalist Yanir Cozin, came when Trump's close aides warned Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer that the president believes Netanyahu is "playing him." Cozin shared the information in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday. An Israeli official told Army Radio that Dermer's tone in recent talks with top U.S. Republican figures was 'arrogant and unhelpful.' This fueled speculation and frustration among Trump's inner circle. They reportedly advised Trump that Netanyahu was trying to manipulate him, and that perception didn't sit well with the president. 'That's why he decided to cut contact with Netanyahu.' What role did Israel's strategy on Iran and Yemen play in the fallout? Beyond personal frustrations, U.S.-Israel relations have been strained by policy disagreements. Cozin pointed out that Israel's failure to present a clear strategy on Iran and the Houthis in Yemen has contributed to the growing rift. Washington has been pushing for a roadmap, especially amid rising tensions in the Middle East, but Israeli leadership hasn't delivered a cohesive plan, which has not helped Netanyahu's standing with Trump. Live Events Is Gaza another sticking point between Trump and Netanyahu? Yes, the ongoing conflict in Gaza has further strained U.S.-Israel coordination. According to Army Radio, Netanyahu's government has not come forward with a solid proposal regarding the Gaza Strip, a situation that has drawn criticism from both U.S. officials and Israeli media. This lack of direction has reportedly frustrated Trump's team, who expected stronger leadership and vision from Netanyahu on issues central to regional stability and U.S. foreign policy interests. How are Republican insiders reacting to Dermer's approach? Another key element in this story is the behavior of Ron Dermer, Israel's Strategic Affairs Minister and a longtime Netanyahu ally. His conversations with senior Republican leaders in the U.S. have been viewed as presumptive and overbearing, according to sources. This attitude, according to Israeli officials quoted by Army Radio, only deepened the impression among Trump's allies that Israel was overstepping boundaries and trying to dictate Trump's moves, especially on foreign policy matters. That perception may have turned the tide for Trump, who often values loyalty and personal image over traditional diplomacy. Could this impact future US-Israel relations under Trump? Without direct communication, any future cooperation may have to go through intermediaries or new Israeli leadership, especially if Netanyahu's government continues to face criticism for its handling of regional threats and internal political challenges. FAQs: Q1: Why did Trump cut ties with Netanyahu? Trump believes Netanyahu was manipulating him, according to Israeli media. Q2: What caused Trump's frustration with Israel? Israel's unclear plans on Iran, Yemen, and Gaza worsened the situation.

Nine 'Israeli' soldiers injured in explosive device blast north of Gaza: Sources
Nine 'Israeli' soldiers, including a battalion commander and a deputy division commander, were injured in an explosive device blast north of Gaza, according to Hebrew media reports. 'Israeli' Army Radio reported on Saturday that the explosion occurred during sweeping operations in the Shujaiya neighborhood, injuring nine soldiers from the Jerusalem Brigade. The soldiers sustained minor injuries. Among the injured are the commander of Battalion 6310 and the deputy commander of Division 252. The incident took place late last night (Friday/Saturday). Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted an army spokesperson, who confirmed the injured soldiers were transported to a hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been notified. Further details have not been disclosed by 'Israeli' media, as the 'Israeli' military enforces strict censorship on news regarding casualties and damage from its operations in Gaza, reportedly to maintain morale among the public. As of Friday, the 'Israeli' military confirmed that 856 soldiers and officers have been killed since October 7, 2023, including eight since the resumption of operations in Gaza on March 18, 2025, according to official figures from the 'Israeli' military.
