Report – Outgoing Inter Milan Veteran Striker Prefers Serie A Stay Over Foreign Move
Departing Inter Milan veteran Marko Arnautovic is reportedly keen to stay in Serie A beyond the summer. Per La Stampa via FCInter1908, the 36-year-old has no intention of leaving Italy's top flight. Indeed, he first joined the club on a season-long loan from Bologna. Advertisement However, he signed a permanent contract the following year. Arnautovic's deal will expire at the end of June, with Inter unwilling to offer him fresh terms. (Photo by) The Austrian star will become a free agent in less than a month. Meanwhile, his chances of staying in Serie A look bleak after he turned down a move to Torino last January. Indeed, the Granata tried to sign him as a short-term replacement for the injured Duvan Zapata. Yet, he refused a switch to Turin to stay at San Siro. Marco Baroni's appointment at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino could see the Granata reignite their interest in the veteran striker. In addition to Torino, Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce could offer Arnautovic a contract this summer.

'Man Utd tried to sign me several times – I knew they were still at the top'
Marko Arnautovic had enjoyed six seasons of Premier League football before Manchester United came in for him after a successful spell at Bologna, but the Austrian rejected a move to Old Trafford Marko Arnautovic already admitted he was subject to numerous overtures from Manchester United - but decided to decline an offer to join the Premier League giants. The Inter Milan forward is gearing up for the Champions League final on Saturday, where the Italian giants take on Paris Saint-Germain. A win for the Nerazzurri would see Arnautovic capture his second UCL medal with the Serie A side, having been part of their last triumph in the competition in the 2009/10 season. The Austria international played just three times during his first stint with Inter but made a name for himself during his four-year spell with Stoke City. His performances led him to a move to West Ham, where he hit double digits in goals in both seasons he spent in London before earning a big-money transfer to Chinese side Shanghai Port. A return to Italy beckoned in 2021 with Bologna as Arnautovic, who was 33 at the time, enjoyed a career-best season with 14 goals in 33 games before following that up with 10 goals in 22 games in his second campaign. With that came summer interest from United, who had just appointed Erik ten Hag. Reports of the forward potentially arriving at Old Trafford weren't well received by sections of fans, with the club then reportedly pulling out due to the feedback they received despite tabling a bid worth £7.6 million. However, Arnautovic's agent set the record straight and claimed that it was his player who turned down a move to United, with the forward himself backing up the story in 2022. " Manchester United tried to sign me several times," Arnautovic told Laola1. "And it was a difficult decision to stay in Italy because my family wanted to return to England. "For me, it's clear that the Red Devils remain at the top of the universe. And Bologna, as a name, are not. But that's fine. Here everything is calm, you have time for yourself and no stress. This is only good for me." The interest in signing the forward was due to the possible departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was said to have wanted to depart Old Trafford after failing to qualify for the Champions League. While the Portuguese legend remained in Manchester beyond the summer, his relationship with Ten Hag deteriorated, leading to the striker conducting a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan in which he slammed his then-manager. "He doesn't respect [me] the way I should deserve [to be respected]," the five-time Ballon d'Or winner said of the Dutchman. "But it is what it is. This is why probably, the game against Tottenham, I left. "Excuses, I see as excuses. I saw many things that, I don't want to criticise him. He can have [a] different opinion than me. They choose the players that they think is better for the team. I respect that but excuses all the time you know; the excuses have short legs, cannot excuse all the time, which is things that don't make sense." Ronaldo eventually left for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in January 2023 after his United contract was ripped up shortly after his interview. Fast-forward two years, and the 40-year-old's time in the Middle East looks to be coming to an end after a social media post sparked doubts over his future. After Al-Nassr's last game of the season, where they lost 3-2 to Al-Fateh, Ronaldo posted a snap of himself on the pitch with a caption that read: "This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all." Join our new MAN UTD WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Manchester United content from Mirror Football. Inter Milan Showers In-Form Austria Star With Praise: ‘Always Been My Favourite Of The Backup Strikers'
Inter Milan Showers In-Form Austria Star With Praise: 'Always Been My Favourite Of The Backup Strikers' Beppe Bergomi says that Marko Arnautovic has 'always been his favourite' among the Inter Milan backup strikers. The former Nerazzurri captain had words of big praise for Arnautovic while speaking on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. Advertisement Striker Marko Arnautovic enjoyed a star turn in Inter's Serie A win over Cagliari this weekend. The 35-year-old both scored and assisted a goal in the first half of the 3-1 win for the Nerazzurri. And this only capped off a fine performance overall by Arnutovic. In fact, the former West Ham United and Bologna striker has been outstanding form for weeks now – at least whenever he has played. Arnautovic has found the back of the net against the likes of Monza and Udinese in Serie A. Meanwhile, the Austrian also played a decisive role in Inter's Coppa Italia quarterfinal win over Lazio in February. He scored a stunning long-range volley to open the scoring in that match. Bergomi: 'Marko Arnautovic My Favourite Of The Inter Milan Backup Strikers' Giuseppe Bergomi Arnautovic's performances have hardly elevated him to being a first-choice starter for Inter. Advertisement However, few would deny that the 35-year-old has made the absolute most of the opportunities afforded to him as a rotation option. And former Inter Milan captain Beppe Bergomi stated that 'he's always been my favourite of the backup strikers.' 'It's not easy in Milan if you start to become a target for criticism,' he noted. 'But now, he's earning the respect of everyone.' Bergomi called Arnautovic 'A dressing room glue player.' 'He's a great friend of Calhanoglu. And that matters.' 'He's scoring important goals,' Bergomi praised Marko Arnautovic. 'And the team is following him.'

Austria Star Proud To Be At ‘Enormous' Club Inter Milan – Adds ‘Second Star Serie A Title A Dream Come True'
Marko Arnautovic is proud to be at an 'enormous club' in Inter Milan, and of the 'dream come true' of the Serie A title and second star. The Austrian gave his thoughts in the matchday programme for today's Serie A clash with Hellas Verona. He also looked back on his relationship with former Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. Marko Arnautovic rejoined Inter Milan in the summer of 2023. He arrived on a two-year deal from Bologna. Arnautovic had actually spent time as an Inter player before. The Austrian had been part of the Nerazzurri squad that won the European Treble of the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League in the 2009-10 season. However, Arnautovic had been a bit part player at that time. Then, the Austrian established himself playing for clubs like Werder Bremen, Stoke City, and West Ham United. Then, in 2021, Arnautovic joined Bologna. And in his return to Serie A, he made quite an impact. This convinced Inter to bring the journeyman striker back for a second go. And this time around, Arnautovic has had much more of an impact than in his first tenure at the clun. Marko Arnautovic reflected that 'Wearing these colours means a lot to me, everything.' 'It's a shirt with a lot of weight. Because Inter are an enormous club.' 'But I'm proud to wear it,' declared Arnautovic. 'To be here with my teammates, and with everyone who works at this club.' The Austrian reflected, 'Every day I strive to be a positive person.' 'To give my best. And to collaborate, to raise the level here even higher.' Arnautovic added that 'the team and coaching staff mean so much to me, they've given me a lot over the last two years.' Meanwhile, Arnautovic called winning the Serie A title for Inter's second star 'a dream come true.' 'I came back after fourteen years. And we won the Scudetto for the second star.' 'It was an extraordinary moment,' the 36-year-old looked back. Then, Arnautovic talked about his relationship with his former Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. 'Talking about him makes me really emotional,' the striker admitted. 'He was like a brother to me. He's someone who believed in me a lot, and gave me so much.'

Misfire – Inter Milan Attacking Duo Devoid Of Threat In 0-1 Serie A Loss Vs Roma
Misfire – Inter Milan Attacking Duo Devoid Of Threat In 0-1 Serie A Loss Vs Roma Lautaro Martinez and Marko Arnautovic are facing criticism for a misfiring attacking performance in Inter Milan's Serie A loss to Roma. Today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, argue the attacking duo were largely devoid of attacking threat. Advertisement With Marcus Thuram still on the sidelines, there were few options for Inter's starting strike partnership. Martinez and Arnautovic have both put in plenty of impressive performances in recent weeks. However, fatigue and physical issues have been a concern throughout the season. Lautaro & Arnautovic Misfire In Inter Serie A Loss To Roma MILAN, ITALY – FEBRUARY 10: Marko Arnautovic of Internazionale celebrates after heading his team's 2nd goal during the Serie A match between FC Internazionale and ACF Fiorentina at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on February 10, 2025 in Milan, Italy. (Photo by) In the first few minutes of yesterday's match, there were positive signs from both Martinez and Arnautovic. The two strikers used their physicality to unsettle the Roma backline. Giallorossi defender Gianluca Mancini went into the book after a careless late tackle on Martinez. Advertisement However, once the match settled, Martinez and Arnautovic were unable to really impact proceedings. Both showed plenty of effort as they tried to haul the team up the pitch. But neither Martinez nor Arnautovic created much danger. And that became even more pronounced in the second half of the match as Inter chased the equalizer. Inter had no shortage of possession in Roma's half. But they failed to make the ball stick in the Giallorossi penalty area, with neither striker offering a cutting edge.
