Passionate educator Paula Rosignoli inspires at New Horizons Learning Center

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – Paula Rosignoli is a true professional in every sense of the word. She has been teaching both algebra and geometry at New Horizons Learning Center for a number of years now. For Rosignoli herself, teaching is all about letting your students blossom. 'You see that aha moment once they get it and then they blossom from there,' said Rosignoli. 'You show them the basic steps. I do that all the time, I break it down and show them what they need to do. All of a sudden, you see a breakthrough, and they get it. You can just see they can do anything at that point.' But don't just take it from Rosignoli. Her students notice the passion and dedication she has for them. 'Mrs. Rosignoli is the best teacher ever,' added New Horizons Learning Center student Shawn Brattin. 'She is smart with her work and helps us when we need help.' Arnold High School teacher leaves a lasting impact on students 'She's helped a bunch of the students here out learn new things,' said student Abigail Holzer. 'Quite frankly, it makes every single lesson that she teaches bring the attention out of me.' One of the most rewarding parts of Rosignoli's job is seeing her students walk the stage at graduation. She understands firsthand how much time and effort they have put in to get to that point. 'It's overwhelming just to see them because you can see that they have gone out, they have blossomed,' Rosignoli added. 'To see them, quote, in the real world, it's just awesome to see them. Arnold's Michael Southerland is lifting the standard

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – Arnold High School sophomore Michael Southerland has been embraced by the Marlin weightlifting team, where a sense of belonging and mentorship has helped fuel his growth in the sport. Southerland, who began weightlifting before arriving at Arnold, was immediately welcomed into the program. Senior Ian Whaler took the newcomer under their wing from the start. 'Michael first came in, and immediately, me and Connor brought him to our rack to bench with us, clean and jerk, everything,' Whaler said. 'He's just a fun person to be around. We take him to breakfast. He's part of the team.' Since joining the Marlins, Southerland has been supported by his teammates, both on and off the platform. Nicknames and words of encouragement have been offered to him regularly, reinforcing a positive team atmosphere. 'They always call me some awesome nicknames and say, 'Let's go, Mike!'' Southerland said. Over the past season, Southerland's dedication paid off when he earned a spot at the All-County meet. Along the way, he also discovered a personal favorite lift, the clean and jerk. Though his journey is still in its early stages, Southerland has expressed excitement about what lies ahead. With two more years of high school eligibility remaining, continued progress is anticipated as he builds on the foundation that has already been set. Southerland's story stands as a testament to the impact of team culture and mentorship in high school athletics, where strength is found not just in lifting, but in the people lifting other up alongside the platform. Arnold senior turns passion into profit

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – Arnold senior, Roman Howell turns passion into profit by creating a sports trading business. Roman Howell, a former Arnold High School basketball standout and captain, founded Front Beach Bros, an online company dedicated to buying and trading sports cards. In just the past four to five months, the business has surpassed 9,000 in pieces of product inventory. This milestone marks a significant achievement for Howell, who, at 18, is already establishing himself as an entrepreneur. After completing his senior season, Howell fully immersed himself in the world of business, transforming a childhood hobby into a potential career. 'I remember seeing that sale for the first time, and I'm like, 'Wait a minute. This is fun,'' Howell said. 'So I kept doing it. I sold a few more cards from my collection, and then my dad suggested, 'Let's go on eBay and buy some more cards.'' Starting at just 14 years old, Howell experimented with buying and trading sports cards, learning through both successes and setbacks. 'I started learning, basically losing money and making money, and how to adjust to that,' he said. Over time, his expertise grew, and he began seeing consistent profits. Since launching Front Beach Bros, Howell has honed his ability to identify fan-favorite cards, including one particularly rare item: a Jason Tatum signed card, one of only a few in existence. This card, graded 9.5 on a scale of 1 to 10, is nearly flawless and highly sought after by collectors. While Front Beach Bros does not have a physical storefront, the business has experienced significant growth. Howell is optimistic about the future, with projections indicating that Instagram platform dedicated to the business, which currently holds nearly 10K followers could reach 20,000 within the next month. 'The goal is 80,000, which I think we should easily hit,' he said. With continued growth on the horizon, Howell's entrepreneurial journey is just beginning. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Arnold High School teacher leaves a lasting impact on students

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – Charles Stephenson is no stranger to teaching. He taught for 18 years in Chicago and has now been teaching pre-AP and AP English at Arnold High School for 11 years. His impact is felt throughout the entirety of the school's campus, and he has certainly left a lasting positive impression on his peers. 'A lot of times, whenever we look at who do you want teaching at Arnold High School? You really start off with who would I want my kids or my grandkids to be in a class?' said Arnold High School Principal Britt Smith. 'He's the person that I want my kids or my grandkids to have been in that class so that they could have the benefit of learning from him.' Charles always asks for 100% effort from his students, and by doing so, he knows he must match that energy and effort. He knows that by showing his love for teaching to his students, they will hopefully reciprocate and become better students and learners. Charles, Arnold High School Teacher 'The things that I expect from my students, I try to model for them, and I think enthusiasm, energy, passion, those are things that students pick up on and they internalize and hopefully, again, begin to cultivate that and develop that within themselves,' said Stephenson. Stepheson's impact is felt around the school, and his co-workers truly hope he never leaves Arnold. Breakfast Point Academy's Melinda Cowart excels in nurturing kids 'Sometimes you are fortunate enough to have worked with those outstanding teachers, and you realize the significant difference that they make in the lives of others,' Smith added. 'Whether it be the colleagues or the students and Mr. Stephenson is that type of person. Being able to replace him is going to be probably impossible.' It's no secret how Stephenson feels about his school and his students. 'I do this because I love it. It's I mean, it's a calling,' Stephenson went on to say. 'Those of us that stay in the profession this long, we are obviously here because we want to be here, and I definitely want to be here every day.' That is what makes Charles Stephenson a Class Act. If there is someone who you think is a Class Act, be sure to nominate them today. All Panhandle school employees are eligible for this award. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
