Cops link Kachiguda robbery case to repeat offender from Nepal
Hyderabad: The city police, probing the robbery case at a businessman's home allegedly carried out by a
Nepali gang
, said the prime suspect,
Lokendra Bahadur Shahi
, was involved in a similar offence in Maharashtra six months ago.
It may be recalled that the police on Saturday issued a lookout notice against four persons — Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, Arpitha, Depender and Chathurbuj — who were allegedly involved in the robbery that took place in Kachiguda.
According to Kachiguda police officials, the gang, after committing the crime at the residence of Hemraj Dugar, took a cab to Sholapur. From there, they hired another cab to Pune. The accused were last seen in Pune, and police currently have no further leads on their movements.
Following the complaint lodged by the victims, police started investigating how the accused were employed by the couple. Based on their inputs, the police arrested four people on Friday. "It was those arrested who revealed the details about the main suspects in the robbery case," the investigators told TOI.
According to police, one of the arrested, Bimla, had introduced Arpitha to Hemraj's family. However, she did not disclose the real identity of Arpitha and her background to the victims. "It was Bahadur, as part of the conspiracy, who had sent Arpitha to secure employment and commit the offence," police said and added that later Bahadur joined them.
Anticipating that the suspects, still on the run, may commit similar offences in other metropolitan cities, police issued a look out circular and released their photographs to the public. A team of policemen has also been sent to Nepal to investigate the suspects' background.
On the day of the offence — April 20 — Arpitha and Bahadur allegedly laced the victims' water and milk with sleeping pills. Once the couple was unconscious, the duo was joined by the other accused. Together they ransacked the house and stole 1 kg of gold and 70 lakh in cash.
