EasyJet plane diverted and police called to take stag-do off flight

A raucous British stag do caused a plane to be diverted after the group's disruptive behaviour led to police intervention. The six-man party was escorted off the aircraft following an unscheduled landing en route to their destination. Passenger Arron Davies, travelling with his mates Mike and Scott, told how two members of the stag party were allegedly caught vaping in their seats, drinking excessively, and hurling abuse at the cabin crew. The incident unfolded on an easyJet service from London Gatwick to Marrakesh, Morocco, where the men reportedly received six warnings before the crew took decisive action. Arron, alongside his friends from Newport, south Wales, witnessed the captain's decision to divert the flight to Faro airport in Portugal. Upon landing, eight Portuguese police officers boarded the plane to address the situation. Two of the men were taken away by the authorities, while the remaining four left the aircraft separately. Arron commented on the aftermath: "The four friends were annoyed that their two mates had ruined their trip," noting the men's vaping in their seats and lavatory, heavy drinking, and abusive behaviour towards the flight staff, reports Wales Online. He further remarked on the disturbance caused: "They were being loud and using a lot of bad language despite children being on the flight." Arron also claimed: "They were warned about six times, but every time the one man muttered when the staff walked away, making the problem worse. "One of the men gave up and walked towards the exit when he realised how serious his actions were being taken. The other man stayed in his seat and was escorted out by up to eight police officers, four getting in the plane from either side. "The flight steward was very good at his job dealing with this issue on the flight, he gave them many chances. I would call the guy a true asset to easyJet. His level of professionalism was on point even though a lot of abuse was aimed at him. "He kept his composure and made me feel I was still safe even with the drama happening in front of me." An easyJet spokesperson said: "This flight from London Gatwick to Marrakech on 19 May diverted to Faro and was met by police upon arrival due to a group of passengers behaving disruptively onboard. Once the passengers had left the aircraft, the flight then continued to Marrakech. "Our cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and acted quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers was not compromised at any time. The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is always easyJet's priority and we do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard."

Moment police storm easyJet plane after Brit stag do's alleged antics

The stag do were reportedly taken off the aircraft after their drunken antics saw stewards to call the police - with witnesses reporting two men vaping, drinking heavily and abusing the crew A rowdy British stag do allegedly forced an easyJet flight to divert after two men vaped, drank heavily and abused crew, leaving fellow passengers fuming. Despite six warnings from staff, the chaos continued with fellow travellers onboard the flight from Gatwick to Marrakesh left seething as the pilot announced he would be landing in Faro, Portugal, instead. The six man group was eventually marched off the aircraft after their drunken antics forced stewards to call the police. Witness Arron Davies, who was travelling with his pals Mike and Scott, was left disgusted by the events on the flight, and said two men on the stag do ruined the party for the rest of the group. Aaron claimed the pair were vaping in their seats while drinking heavily and being abusive towards the stewards. ‌ ‌ Arron, Mike and Scott, of Newport, south Wales, were left stunned as the pilot announced the flight would be landing in Faro airport. The diverted aircraft was greeted by eight Portuguese police officers who led two men off - while the other four frustrated stag do members made their way off the plane. "The four friends were annoyed that their two mates had ruined their trip," Arron said. He claimed: "The men were vaping in their seats and toilet, drinking heavily and to my opinion already drunk or close to when boarding. They were being abusive towards staff on the flight and I think they had an undertone of homophobia toward the head steward." ‌ The men were also being loud and using bad language despite children being on the flight, Arron claimed. He alleged: "They were warned about six times, but every time the one man muttered when the staff walked away, making the problem worse. Woman discovers rare painting at Goodwill for just $2.99

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — They say treasure can be found in the most curious of places. That's exactly what happened to one Miami Valley woman when she bought a painting at a local thrift store. Little did she know: It was much more than she bargained for. 'I love to go thrifting,' says Dayton photographer Marissa Alcorn. 'I thrift for the stuff for my studio mostly. Or my house – my house is 90% thrifted.' Deals and steals for a fraction of the price. She says that was her goal one night in mid-January. Cedarville professor hopes to make global impact 'My fiancé Arron and I had just got done with dinner he convinced me to go to a Goodwill store,' she says. 'We did a lap around the store and didn't find anything and I was, like, 'see, I didn't find anything, I told you I didn't want to be here,' and this lady brought a cart out right before we were about to leave and I saw the corner of the frame.' She thought it was an 'awful painting.' But for $2.99, she thought 'why not?' That is until she got into her car and noticed something. 'It had a little plaque at the bottom of the frame,' Alcorn recalls. 'Out of curiosity, I type in the name and find out it was Johann Berthelsen.' An American impressionist painter whose pieces hang in art galleries all over the country, Berthelsen's works go can for as little as $1,000 to upwards of $35,000. 'My first thought was: This isn't real,' she says. 'It's probably just a fake.' Hundreds of volunteers put on 'Night to Shine' in Kettering So she posted it on Facebook in a free art appraisal group, and the photos quickly took off. Many people advised her to get it authenticated. She found an auction house in Cincinnati that quickly accepted the painting. 'While it was listed in this auction – people were pre bidding on it – so it started out at like $600 and on auction day it made its way up to $1,500,' she says. 'It lasted like approximately 30 seconds and it was like a bidding war it was like and then it settled on $2,300. 'I couldn't believe it. I was sweating, I was nervous, and I was, like, even if it goes for $1,500, I'll be happy. 'We paid $2.99 for it.' A moment Alcorn says she will never forget. 'I think it's probably a once in a lifetime thing,' she says. 'I don't think I'll ever find something like that again, but you never know.' Alcorn says she and her fiancé Arron recently got engaged so the money will go towards their wedding. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
