Excitement as 10 Jersey artists get grants for new work

Ten local artists have been awarded grants of up to £5,000 to support their creativity, a charity has Jersey said artists applying to create a comedy short film, debut album and a new play were among those successful in the latest round of its quarterly funding artist and writer, Alexander Mourant, was awarded funding for skills development in metal work and screen printing said: "This funding will support exciting new research, materials and the opportunity to learn new techniques and processes." Mr Mourant added: "Over the coming year, my work will continue to explore Jersey farming history, through expanded photography, sculpture and assemblage. "I'm really looking forward to sharing this with the island and further afield." Actress and filmmaker Lorna Ramsay was awarded funding towards the post-production of her coming-of-age short film Insufferably Bourgeois, a comedy being made by three women."My team and I on Insufferably Bourgeois are beyond grateful for ArtHouse Jersey's support towards the post-production of our proof-of-concept short film," she Ramsay said the funding would allow the team to finish the charity said small development grants were for awards below £1,500, while large grants were between £1,500 and £5,000.

Jersey films launched to help language learners

A series of short films providing support to pupils learning different languages are being launched in Government of Jersey said the Learning Bites series of films had been created as a resource for parents and films will be launched at a Community Language Celebration event at Jersey Library in St Helier on to the government, about a third of students at mainstream schools were multilingual learners and the aim of the films was to promote language development. The event at Jersey Library will take place between 10:00 and 12:00 will also include displays from Art House Jersey, music from Jersey Music Service and stories in Jerriais, French, English, and Portuguese.
