Grant supporting free classes at the Peoria Art Guild

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Peoria Art Guild has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Central Illinois to launch 'Art Without Boundaries' next month, The art guild said that 'Art Without Boundaries' is an 'exciting new initiative providing free arts education to youth across Central Illinois.' The grant is worth nearly $9,000. 'Art Without Boundaries' will offer no-cost arts experiences, ensuring that all children under 18 have access to high-quality, diverse arts education. It will foster creativity, critical thinking, and mentorship by engaging young artists early and empowering them to inspire the next generation, the art guild said. Shannon Cox, the art guild's executive director, said the $8,980 grant will remove 'financial and geographic barriers' for youths and ensure all have 'the opportunity to create, learn, and grow through art.' 'We are thankful to the Community Foundation of Central Illinois for their support of this program,' she said. The art guild is also teaming up with CityLink to provide bus passes for students and parents traveling to our class locations, which will be held at some of the city's library branches. There will also be a groundbreaking for the art guild's classroom expansion at their Shoppes at Grand Prairie location on May 29.
