NCST initiates probe into rape of minor at hostel
Bhubaneswar: National Commission for
(NCST) has launched an investigation into the alleged rape of a minor at a girls' hostel in Koraput. NCST's action came in response to a complaint filed by Tukuni Sahu and others on May its constitutional powers under Article 338A, the commission issued notices to three senior officials — additional chief secretary of the home department, principal secretary of ST & SC development department, and the director general of officials were given a seven-day deadline to submit a comprehensive report detailing the facts of the case and actions taken so far.

NCST warned that failure to respond within the timeframe could result in the officials being summoned to appear before the commission."Please take notice that in case the commission does not receive a reply from you within the stipulated time, the commission may exercise the powers of civil court and issue summons for your appearance in person or by representative before the commission," the order case has prompted calls for stricter oversight and improved security measures at residential facilities for tribal students.
