WPAFB Col. Christopher B. Meeker enters plea; trial continues

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A former Wright-Patterson Air Force Base commander has pleaded guilty during his court martial trial on Tuesday. Col. Christopher B. Meeker was relieved of command in December 2023 after a reported 'loss of confidence in his ability to lead.' At the trial, Meeker entered a plea of guilty to the following: Charge 1, Specification 1 under Article 90: Willful disobedience of a command given by a superior commissioned officer. Charge 2, Specification 1 under Article 134: Knowingly fraternizing (i.e. 'engaging in a personal and sexual relationship') with an enlisted person, on terms of military equity. The combination of all charges and specifications carry a maximum sentence of dismissal, seven years confinement and relinquishing pay and allowances. Since Meeker has entered a plea agreement, the maximum sentence range is the dismissal, the relinquishing of pay and allowances and a confinement range of up to 21 days. The agreement has been agreed to by the military judge. During the trial, Meeker acknowledged responsibility for the aforementioned actions and verbally admitted to engaging in said acts without alerting his superior command or abiding by restrictions provided in the written order from Lt. Gen. Donna Shipton. Shipton was called to the stand by the trial counsel during the session and corroborated with the actions that Meeker pled guilty to moments prior. The defense counsel did not ask any additional questions to Shipton. The trial is currently ongoing. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
