Artists from across the country showcase work at annual Artisphere festival
GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Mother's Day weekend in Greenville would not be complete without a stroll through the city's annual art festival. The music, food and the arts are center stage at the 21st annual Artisphere festival. The Artisphere event is held every Mother's Day weekend in downtown Greenville, transforming Mainstreet into a treat for the eyes as puppet parades, street performers and thousands of people gather in the heart of downtown. 'Just an amazing long walk, looking at creativity and all sorts of artists that come from all around and some of us have artistic aptitude ourselves, so it just kind of feeds the brain cells and gives us ideas,' Jeff Ellis of Greenville said. One of the highlights of the festival is 'artists row,' which showcases a variety of different art, 'it's unique, its individual, it's not something that you find just anywhere, and it brings soul to the city. It also brings a lot of people into the downtown, so they understand what a special downtown Greenville has.' One of the 140 artists featured this year is Michael Williams' from south Florida.'All my work is watercolor on canvas.' Williams added. 'As you can see, I have my palm leaf, again all done in watercolor with attention to light and focusing on those kinds of details, working with not only the subject but the light and creating those different textures and giving it this nice ethereal quality.' Williams said each of these one-of-a-kind pieces take creativity and time, 'because its watercolor if I mess up in any way it kind of gets trashed and reset, so something like this could take me a couple months to over a year. Each piece is a little different.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
