2 arrested with MD in Jaripatka
Nagpur: In a swift operation under the ongoing Operation Thunder, Jaripatka police arrested two individuals with a small quantity of MD (mephedrone) late Monday night. The action was carried out under the leadership of DCP Zone V Niketan Kadam.
Senior PI Arun Kshirsagar of Jaripatka police station confirmed that the arrests were made following a tip-off received around 3am about two suspects dealing in drugs near Chawla Chowk in Jaripatka. A police team immediately moved to the location and spotted the two men. Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee but were quickly caught.
During the search, police recovered 5g MD from the accused, valued at approximately Rs25,000 in the illegal market.
The suspects were immediately booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
The accused were remanded to police custody (PCR) until June 6. According to PI Kshirsagar, initial interrogation confirmed the drugs were meant for sale, and police are now probing deeper into a possible larger distribution network.
This seizure is part of a broader crackdown on drug activities in the city, as Operation Thunder continues to target narcotics peddlers and dismantle organised drug routes.
