Workshop on National Human Rights Plan
TDT | Manama Email : The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized the second workshop in a series of discussions aimed at preparing the National Human Rights Plan for the period 2027-2031. The workshop, held via videoconference and attended by His Excellency Osama bin Saleh Al-Alawi, Minister of Social Development, brought together officials, representatives from relevant ministries and entities, and members of the National Human Rights Committee. It was moderated by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al-Sayed, Head of the Human Rights Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The session was also attended remotely by Bahrain's diplomatic and consular corps abroad, ambassadors of friendly countries, United Nations representatives, and civil society organizations. In his opening remarks, Al-Alawi expressed pride in the achievements of national institutions and civil society organizations in advancing human rights in Bahrain.

Launch of First Workshop Session for the National Human Rights Plan (2027-2031)
The first workshop session for the preparation and planning of the National Human Rights Plan for the years 2027-2031 was launched today, titled "The Role of Human Rights Diplomacy in Promoting and Protecting Human Rights." The session was conducted via video conference and was moderated by Dr. Arwa Hassan Al-Sayed, Head of the Human Rights Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the first working session, titled "The Role of the National Human Rights Plan in Enhancing National Policies," several key figures spoke, including His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States; Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Boujeri, Director General for Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Khalid Abdul Salam Al-Muqad, UN Resident Coordinator for Activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain; and Mr. Abdullah Isa Al-Manaei, Executive Director of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence. The second working session, titled "International Cooperation and Sustainable Development Goals as a Comprehensive Human Rights Framework," addressed the role of international cooperation in supporting human rights through the achievement of sustainable development goals. Speakers included Ms. Dana Hamza, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Sustainable Development; Professor Noura Al-Rashoud, Executive Director of the Permanent Independent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; Ms. Asmaa Shalabi, UN Development Programme Resident Representative in Bahrain; His Excellency Abdullah Abdul Latif Abdullah, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in Geneva; and His Excellency Jamal Al-Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York. The third working session, titled "Enhancing Bilateral and Multilateral Efforts to Develop Rights and Duties in the Kingdom of Bahrain," featured contributions from His Excellency Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom; Mr. Stephen Craig Bondy, Ambassador of the United States to Bahrain; Mr. Alistair Long, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Bahrain; and Ms. Riham Abdulhamid Mahmoud Ibrahim Khalil, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Bahrain.
