Missing Silver Spring woman killed in pedestrian collision
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — An elderly Silver Spring woman who was reported missing over the weekend was killed in a collision in College Park, authorities said Wednesday.
Asenakech Amdrufael Negewo, 77, was reportedly last seen on Sunday, May 18, at around 5:30 p.m. Information about her being missing was at around 9:30 p.m. that day.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) confirmed on Wednesday that Negewo was struck by a vehicle and killed in a fatal pedestrian collision that same day.
Shortly after 9:15 p.m., Maryland State Police (MSP) responded to the area of eastbound MD-198, near the ramp for I-95. There, a man was driving a Honda Civic and headed onto eastbound MD-198 when he struck Negewo, who was standing in the roadway.
She died at the scene.
Road closures lasted around eight hours.
MSP's Crash Team is leading the investigation.
