I felt like I was driving a real racing car when testing this sim racing rig — this is next-level simulation tech
Sim racing has gone from being a side quest at Computex 2025 to one of the biggest parts of the whole show. And after having my mind blown by a certain value sim racing rig from Asetek (that I can't tell you the name of…yet), I went searching for the ultimate setup. You know the kind — money is no object and I want the best of the best for my pro sim racing career. Oh boy did I find it in the Nitro Concepts E-Racer, which comes armed with pitch perfect haptics and even a wind machine to make you feel like you're actually tearing around Monza. Of course, to get the full setup I used, you need the $999 Immersion Metahaptics, the R300 seat, the Moza wheel I used and the Wind boxes — all of which will easily take you into the $3,500 price region. But it's good to know all of this is part of a modular ecosystem, so you can start at this lower price for just the frame and build from there. And if you live in the UK, there's a bundle sale happening right now! So I headed out on track and the impact on my senses was immediate. On my setup at home (Logitech G Pro and PlaySeat Formula Instinct), I thought I felt immersion through the posture and the detailed direct drive feedback through the wheel. But the Immersion Metahaptics fitted to the seat gave took things to a whole new level — from the big thuds of accidentally hitting sausage curbs to the finer textures of identifying when the back end of the car is starting to kick out. And the most impressive thing about it is just how it really makes you feel at one with the car. These haptics didn't feel gimmicky, they actually gave me a constant stream of knowledge on how the car was handling, and where I could go faster. Whether it's the small hints of understeer you can quickly correct while trail braking or timing the gear shifts as I powered out of Curva Alboreto at the Temple of Speed, the detailed vibrations told me everything. Just when you thought the immersion levels were at max, Nitro Concepts turn them up again with the Wind Box — delivering a breeze that simulates the real airflow of the speed you're going. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Not only did I appreciate the cooling in these high temperatures at Taipei (I'm British, so definitely not built for 90-degree heat), but that gradually increasing gust of wind as I peeled down the start/finish straight at 180 MPH is sensational. Did I get any knowledge from it? Not so much. This is definitely more of a nice added bonus, but it's a helluva bonus with the sense of speed you get from it! Oh, and additional shoutout to the LED bars on the E-Racer frame itself. Paired with the lighting control box, you can translate your telemetry into ambient lighting — be it the lights shooting up with your RPM, the color of flag being waved across the track for a nice reminder, or even flashing purple if you hit a best sector time. I've tried motion sim racing rigs — those that are able to move the seat as you drive. They're cool and all, but with the slight latency in movements and the lack of real track knowledge you gain from all the moving about, it just feels like a simulator ride at a theme park. What Nitro Concepts has done here with the E-Racer is simply phenomenal. Not only do you get all of that immersive goodness from the haptics all around you and the wind blowing through your hair, but they actively make you a better race driver too. The price may be steep, but if you're an enthusiast with pro tendencies, there's nothing better in my opinion.

Computex day 3: the most eye-catching tech from the world's biggest computing event
Computex is sailing towards the finish line for another year. The show is wrapping up its fourth day, so this is our whistle-stop look at what caught our eye during day three of the event. With most of the big announcements out of the way, we've given out our picks of the best products of Computex 2025 here, but there are still a few items that got our pulses up that didn't make the list. Like an incredible sim racing rig, a custom PC build that looks like a tank and a pair of earbuds that promise real-time language translation. So, let's take a look at what caught our eye on day three of the show. This all-new racing rig from Asetek is several months away from release. And while our resident sim racing expert Jason England got some time with it, we're still not allowed to tell you what it's called. According to Jason, it feels incredible to sit and drive in, but the real kick here is its price. With everything included (such as its wheel, wheel base, pedals and the seat to connect it all to), it'll be land at $1,000. Pricey? Yes, but from what it offers, you'd find other rigs cost twice as much — if not more. This gaming rig from Asus is an interesting proposition — it sports an RTX 5060 Ti GPU and an Intel Core i7-13620H CPU. The latter is a mobile processor made for laptops, so it's very weird to find it tucked away in a gaming desktop. It might seem strange, but there's method to Asus' madness. By bringing these two components together, the company can keep the cost down (it's looking locked at $1,099), and therefore use other high-quality components that would normally be too pricy to include in a budget gaming PC. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Of course, we'll need to wait and get our hands on it for some proper testing to find out if that laptop CPU and desktop GPU combo works out. We were marvelling at the custom PC builds on the show floor in yesterday's roundup, but this one takes the prize. It's a custom tank mod case from Thermalright complete with movable wheels. All of its ports and components are situated on the back, including its power switch, but the real fun is how it was made. Taking over three months to manufacture, it's built with 500 individual CNC parts and comes with that gamer-ready RGB glow on the railguns. Those who follow the world of Computex closely may recall MSI's MEG Vision X AI desktop PC from last year's show. Back then, it was just a concept; now it's the real deal. The form factor is the same: it's a gaming PC with an AI-powered touchscreen display on the front. But now we're playing with power, so to speak. For 2025, MSI has packed it with an Intel Ultra 9 285K processor, an Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card and 64GB of DDR5 RAM. It means the $7,500 price tag isn't as hard to swallow as it may appear. My colleague Anthony Spadafora has been following this machine from concept to reality and got some serious hands-on time with it on the show floor this year. Acer can lay a strong claim to the MVP at Computex this year, the company is absolutely killing it with some solid new products. Alongside its new laptops and a smart ring, it also revealed an all-new pair of earbuds designed to break down language barriers. The Acer AI TransBuds offer real-time translation through earbuds, using AI-based speech recognition and semantic analysis, so you can have a two-way conversation in two completely different languages and know what the other is saying. And there's no overly long, awkward delay, either. Unfortunately, the company didn't give us any word on pricing or availability, but the Acer AI TransBuds look to be a must-have travel accessory in the future.

Exclusive: I got early access to the best sim racing rig of 2025 — but it's so early I can't even tell you what it's called
Asetek is launching its first ever value sim racing rig to support consoles, and I'm the first person on the planet to tell you all about how it drives — months before its release. As the sim racing guy, I can always sniff out a good chance to race at any press event I go to, and Computex 2025 is no different. But even I didn't expect to come across something like this — especially given the fact it technically isn't coming out for months. Asetek is a brand more well-known for creating the best of the best for pro racers at a big price. But hiding in plain sight amongst the booth is a rather nice premium-feeling, hefty sim rig for passers by to jump on and try. What you don't know, though, is that this is Asetek giving its brand new entry a test drive before unleashing it on the public. Even better? It's a value sim bundle with a shockingly good price that packs console support. Let's talk about it, but first a heads up. Out of caution, we're blurring the wheel itself so you don't know what it's called! The truth is I know more details about this wheel than I'm letting on — that's the deal with a job like this. But you've got to play the game and work your way around the limitations put in place. I have to be indirect in what I say here… got it? So to navigate around the minefield and find a balance between telling you all about it while not messing up some poor PR team's campaign (as someone who's worked in PR in the past, I feel your pain), here are just some things that could be true about it: Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. You got all that? Good! Let's take it out for a spin on Forza Horizon 5. Starting with the rig itself, the use of metal keeps a nice rigidity to it all, while the seat has a great plush cushioning that you sink into nicely — sure to keep me comfy for those longer endurance races. And then you start to drive. The wheel itself has a great feel to it — packing that trademark wallop of direct drive force feedback, but also offering up those small granular details to help you indicate oversteer and the surface on which you're driving. Based on having a feel of all the elements, there's a plastic construction to the wheel and pedal base, but nothing that feels cheap at all. While Forza Horizon is not really a game that relies on intricate controls, all the buttons and dials on the face of the wheel are placed nicely within a thumb's reach to adjust key controls on more complex race cars. Meanwhile, the pedals feel satisfyingly weighty under the feet. The brake pedal has a nice load cell sensation to it, with a realistic increase in resistive pressure as you push harder. That is sure to help you nail the small percentages for trail braking around more complex corners. Throw in some nice tactile paddle shifters, expandability for hand clutches and a versatile modular build for you to upgrade key elements over time as you become more of a seasoned sim racing veteran, and this is a seriously slick package. Not a total revolution in driving accuracy like more expensive solutions, but more than enough given the value its aiming at. But here's the kicker. I was here thinking this was a solid mid-range direct drive wheel to get you into the sim racing scene, and that's when I was told by Asetek that the plan is to sell the whole thing (wheel, wheel base, pedals and the seat to connect it all to) for $1,000. Yes, that's still four figures, but to get something equivalent to the accuracy of simulation and build quality would cost you at least twice that — and that's before even thinking about the racing seat. And with this ticking all my boxes, it's easily become my personal favorite discovery at Computex. Everything you'd find for vastly more, but for much less than you expect. Sim racing has a huge gap in the mid-range, as people are normally starting with a beginners toy wheel like the Logitech G29 — only to then have to reinvest a ton of money when it's not enough. To be able to get everything at the same time for a price like this is a seriously good long-term investment... Well, it could be. We're not supposed to talk about this so keep it to yourself!
