'Welcome to the World': Aussie tennis legend Ash Barty reveals birth of second child, a daughter named Jordan, with husband Garry Kissick
Ash Barty has revealed she's welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Jordan, with her husband, Garry Kissick.
The 29-year-old former tennis champion announced the happy news on Monday with a black and white photo of the newborn wearing a beanie and a onesie emblazoned with the words "Embrace your weird".
"Welcome to the world, Jordan," Barty captioned the post, adding a heart emoji.
"You are loved unconditionally and we are so grateful to have you in our arms, gorgeous girl."
Barty and Kissick, who tied the knot in a private ceremony in Brisbane in July 2022, already share a son, Hayden, who will turn two on July 4.
Since sharing the news, Barty has been flooded with messages of support from fans and famous friends alike, including swimming great Giaan Rooney, TV vet Dr Chris Brown, and model Elyse Knowles.
"G'day, champion. Congrats!" the Australian Open account wrote in the comments, while Tennis Australia added: "Congratulations, both".
Barty shocked the sporting world when she announced her retirement in March 2022, less than two months after winning the Australian Open.
She broke the news in a heartfelt interview with friend and former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua, posted to Instagram.
"Today is difficult and filled with emotion for me as I announce my retirement from tennis," she wrote in the caption.
"I am so thankful for everything this sport has given me and leave feeling proud and fulfilled."
In the video, a tearful Barty said she would "never ever stop loving tennis", but that it was time to step away and embrace the "next phase" of her life.
Since retiring from professional tennis, the mother-of-two has built a successful career as a children's book author.
She has also established the Ash Barty Foundation, which aims to support young Australians through sports and education.
In July 2024, she returned to Wimbledon to participate in an exhibition doubles match and made her debut as a commentator.
