Pedestrian seriously injured after crash involving van in Ayr town centre

A 46-year-old man was hospitalised with "serious injuries" following a crash involving a van on Wednesday, May 14. A pedestrian was left with "serious injuries" following a crash involving a van in Ayr last week. Emergency services were called to the scene on Beresford Terrace at the junction with Parkhouse Street following the incident at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 14. ‌ A 46-year-old man, the pedestrian, was taken to hospital for treatment where his injuries were described as "serious" as a result of the crash which involved a white Vauxhall Vivaro. ‌ The van driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released pending further enquiries. Police are now appealing for information and dash cam footage to help establish the full circumstances of the crash. Constable Ashleigh MacLachlan of the Road Policing Unit said: 'Our enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing. 'I am appealing for anyone who saw the crash who hasn't already spoken to officers to get in touch. 'I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.' ‌ A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: 'Road policing officers are appealing for information following a serious crash in Ayr. 'The incident happened around 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 14, on Beresford Terrace at its junction with Parkhouse Street involving a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van. "Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. ‌ "The driver of the van, a 39-year-old man, was arrested in connection and later released pending further enquiries. "Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3390 of May 14."
