Skanska renovates university library in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, for USD 60M, about SEK 620M

STOCKHOLM, June 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Skanska has signed an additional contract with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for the reconstruction of the Walter Clinton Jackson Library in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. The contract amendment is worth USD 60M, about SEK 620M, which will be included in the US order bookings for the second quarter of 2025. The project includes the renovation of the university's original 1950s 4-story library and a 1970s 9-story tower addition. The project consists of a comprehensive, transformative renovation of approximately 21,700 square meters (234,000-SF) to integrate high technology group studies, central convening spaces and increased capacity for use by individual students. It is envisioned as a nexus of student academic success and transformative research resources. Construction began in May 2025 and will be completed in late 2027. STOCKHOLM, June 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Skanska has signed a supplemental contract with Virginia Tech to construct a new College of Engineering building. The supplemental contract is worth USD 240M, about SEK 2.5 billion, which will be included in the US order bookings for the second quarter of 2025. The project began with the demolition of Virginia Tech's 15,400 square meter Randolph Hall. Construction now continues with the renovation of a portion of the existing Hancock Hall to tie into the new construction of one of the largest buildings on the Blacksburg campus; the forthcoming five-story, approximately 28,500 square meter Mitchell Hall engineering building. The new building will house five departments: aerospace and ocean engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, and engineering education. The project also includes building around one of the largest university-owned wind tunnels in the country, and creating high-performing classrooms, instructional laboratories, research laboratories and collaboration spaces. Construction began spring 2024 with the demolition of Randolph Hall. The project has a target completion of fall 2028. STOCKHOLM, May 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Skanska has signed an additional contract with the University of Virginia for the construction of the Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology at Fontaine Research Park in Charlottesville, Virginia. The additional contract is worth USD 66M, about SEK 690M, which will be included in the US order bookings for the second quarter of 2025. Upon completion, the five-story, approximately 33,000 square meter (354,000-square-foot) Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Virginia will be a state-of-the-art facility to house the first-of-its-kind translational research program in the Commonwealth. The building will include modular, multi-use laboratory space and support space, expanded research facilities, core facilities and an area for 100-150 researchers and partnering biotechnology companies to foster collaboration on the frontlines of science and technology.
