Bloomfield advances to second-straight state title game
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WROC) – The Bloomfield softball team is on its way to the state championship for the second year in a row, defeating Section IV's Deposit-Hancock 4-0 in the Class C semifinal. Bloomfield struck early, as Ashlyn Wright punched two RBIs in the first inning with a hit to left field. In the second, Sydney Falsone popped up to left and reached on an error, bringing another run across the plate to make it 3-0. Wright locked it down on the mound, earning eight strikeouts as Bloomfield came away with the four-run victory. Bloomfield's Wright is Player of the Week
Over three games last week, Bloomfield's Ashlyn Wright struck out 45 batters and pitched a perfect game to lead the Bombers to three wins. Her perfect outing came on Tuesday to give Bloomfield to a 4-0 win. Wright accounted for all 21 outs, including 18 strikeouts. The next day, she tallied 15 strikeouts to earn a shutout victory. Wright ended her week with another 12 strikeouts to pick up a 6-1 win, Bloomfield's seventh victory in a row.
