60,000 expected at Malaysia vs Vietnam match in Bukit Jalil
KUALA LUMPUR: Tonight's football match between Malaysia and Vietnam is expected to draw 60,000 supporters to the Bukit Jalil Stadium, according to police.
Cheras deputy OCPD Supt Ridzuan Khalid urged those not attending the Asia Cup 2027 qualifying match to avoid roads leading to the stadium.
He also advised fans to use public transport.
"Obey instructions from policemen on the ground and maintain a patient and polite demeanour when driving. Do not park cars along the roads leading to the stadium entrances and exits.
"Summonses will be issued and cars towed if found obstructing traffic," he said.
The police have made preparations to ensure public safety, he added.
Ridzuan also stated that strict checks would be conducted to prevent contraband such as weapons, alcohol, and fireworks from being smuggled into the stadium.
"All entrances to the stadium will open at 5.30pm. As a precaution, safety checks, including body and bag checks, will be conducted before and after entry.
"The police will not hesitate to take action against those attempting to provoke or start riots during or after the match," he said.
