Pacific Islander heritage celebrated in United States
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States concludes this week. It recognises the contributions of Asian, American and Pacific individuals have made to American society in areas like science, government, the arts, business, and civil rights.
Various events are organised throughout the country, particularly in cities that boast significant Pacific Islander communities.
"We have about 80,000 pacific islanders who live in Utah," said one event organiser in Salt Lake City, Susi Feltch-Malohifo'ou, CEO at Utah's Pacific Island Knowledge 2 Action Resources.
"The month has been full of culture for both Pacific just a way of visibility and raising awareness."
