Govt orders probe into Turkish firm working on Indore Metro project

Indore: Amid plans to start the Indore Metro operations on May 31, Madhya Pradesh govt has ordered a probe against a Turkey-based firm — which has been assigned the contract for fare collections — to scrutinise its possible involvement in any anti-India activities . The Turkish firm Asis Elektronik ve Bilisim Sistemleri (AEBS, or Asis Electronics and Information Systems) was awarded the automatic fare collection (AFC) contract last year. There were three bidders in the technical round, and AEBS won as its bid of Rs 186.5 crore was well below MPMRCL's estimate of Rs 230 crore. Congress has raised concerns over AEBS' alleged defence ties, noting that its subsidiary, AsisGuard, manufactures drones that were used by Pakistan to target India during the recent Op Sindoor conflict. Upon discovering the Turkish firm's involvement in the Indore Metro fare collection system, Madhya Pradesh urban development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya ordered an investigation. "Nation is supreme. there is no place for anti-India mentality," he posted on X on Monday. "It's alleged that drones manufactured by Turkish company 'AsisGuard', were recently used in anti-India activities. The serious fact is that this same company 'Assis' is currently contracted for the work of a digital system in Bhopal and Indore Metro projects. In this regard, instructions have been given to officials to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation," he said. "If it is found that the company has direct or indirect links with anti-India elements or its products have been used against India's security, the company's contract will be terminated. We will not compromise with the nation's honour, security and self-respect," he added. "For us, national duty is paramount. Any kind of sympathy or cooperation with anyone who stands against India's sovereignty, no matter who he is, is intolerable," Vijayvargiya remarked. The Turkish firm has been assigned the task of designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning the Metro ticketing system. In the first phase, Indore Metro will be operational on the 6km-long 'Super Priority Corridor' that has five stations. Work on the first phase of Bhopal Metro, 7.5 km-long, is yet to be completed.

MP minister Kailash Vijayvargiya calls for probe into Turkish firm Asis Guard over alleged anti-India links

Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday demanded a thorough investigation into Turkish defense firm Asis Guard , which is currently involved in digital system installations for the Bhopal and Indore metro rail projects. The minister cited allegations that drones manufactured by the company were recently used in activities against India's national interests. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Vijayvargiya stated, 'Nation above all… no place for anti-India mentality. For us, the duty towards the nation is paramount. Anyone who stands against India's sovereignty, no matter who they are, will receive no sympathy or cooperation of any kind.' He emphasised the need to examine whether Asis Guard has any direct or indirect links to elements hostile to India. "Officials have been directed to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation," he said, adding that if any evidence is found connecting the firm to anti-India activities, "the company's contract will be terminated." TheFactualist Undo The minister's remarks come amid growing scrutiny of foreign defense firms operating in India, especially those with dual-use technologies like drones. Asis Guard, based in Turkey, is reportedly engaged in defense-grade drone manufacturing and is accused—though not officially by Indian agencies—of supplying drones that may have been used in operations against Indian interests. Vijayvargiya made it clear that national security concerns would take precedence over ongoing infrastructure contracts. 'We will not compromise on the nation's honor, security, and self-respect,' he said. Live Events There has been no official response from Asis Guard or the Turkish government over the matter. The metro projects in Bhopal and Indore are part of a major urban infrastructure upgrade initiative in Madhya Pradesh, and any disruption could impact project timelines.

Turkish Tech, Pakistani Push: A New Dimension in Border Hostilities

In a troubling escalation of hostilities along the India-Pakistan border, hundreds of advanced drones—reportedly supplied by Turkey—were deployed in a coordinated aerial offensive by Pakistan, sparking alarm in Indian defense circles and raising the specter of a broader regional conflict. On the night of May 8th and into the early hours of May 9th, Indian military sources confirm that Pakistan launched a series of aggressive maneuvers targeting military infrastructure across India's western front. The incursion included multiple violations of Indian airspace and heavy artillery fire along the Line of Control (LoC). Most notably, 300 to 400 drones attempted to breach Indian airspace at 36 different points, from Leh in the north to Sir Creek in the south. Indian air defense systems responded swiftly, successfully intercepting and neutralizing a significant number of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using both kinetic weapons and electronic warfare tactics. Forensic analysis of the downed drones is currently underway, but initial assessments identify them as Songar drones manufactured by Turkish defense firm AsisGuard. The involvement of Turkish drones adds a new and complex dimension to the long-standing conflict between India and Pakistan. The revelation that Turkey—under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan—has supplied sophisticated military technology to Pakistan is likely to strain Ankara's diplomatic relations with New Delhi and may prompt wider international scrutiny. 'This is not just a border skirmish; it represents a deliberate attempt to probe our air defense capabilities and gather sensitive military intelligence,' a senior Indian defense official said on condition of anonymity. 'The scale and coordination of the drone intrusions mark a significant escalation.' Strategic analysts warn that the use of such drones, capable of both reconnaissance and precision strikes, signals a shift in Pakistan's tactical approach and reflects a growing reliance on emerging military technologies. More concerning, however, is the potential for further entanglement of international actors in what has traditionally been a bilateral conflict. President Erdoğan's visible support for Pakistan—especially amid ongoing tensions in South Asia—has already stirred debate among global observers. The latest incident will likely amplify calls for greater accountability and transparency in international arms transfers. India remains on high alert, with increased surveillance and air defense readiness reported across its northern and western sectors. Meanwhile, diplomatic channels are expected to be activated in coming days as New Delhi prepares to register a strong protest with both Islamabad and Ankara. As tensions mount and the ground situation remains volatile, the region watches warily for the next move in what could become a defining chapter in South Asia's security landscape.
