Prayagraj: Adopting a zero-tolerance policy against crime and criminals, Pratapgarh police have invoked the stringent Gangsters Act against 21 notorious criminals. The accused hail from various areas, including Kunda (5), Aspur Devsara (4), Hathigaon (4), Sangramgarh (4), Raniganj (2), and Antoo (2). The police have also arrested eight hardened criminals, including four carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000 each, and two others carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000. SP (Pratapgarh) Anil Kumar told TOI, "In order to maintain a strict watch on professional criminals, Pratapgarh police opened as many as 33 history sheets, including Mandhata (8), Sangramgarh (3), Leelapur (2), Baghrai (2), Raniganj (2), Maheshganj (2), Jethwara (2), Lalganj (2), Udaypur (2), Sangipur (2), Antoo (1), Patti (1), Aspur Devsara (1), and Dehlupur (1), and slapped the Goonda Act against three other criminals in May. " He added, "Police also managed to cancel the arms licence of three persons with a criminal sketch last month." Moreover, the average response time of PRV vehicles in Pratapgarh was 5:58 minutes last month, better than in April. Cops also claimed to carry out verification of 3,129 moto cabs and e-rickshaws. Moreover, the police enlisted four new gangs, including D-177 to D-180, operating their activities under the limits of Antoo, Baghrai, and Maheshganj police stations, and prepared dossiers of 14 criminals associated with these district-listed gangs.
