Rick Spielman explains his new position in the Jets' front office
Rick Spielman has joined the front office of the New York Jets.
Spielman, 62, was hired in a new position created which is called a senior football advisor.
Considering the unknowns about something like that... what exactly Spielman does for the team is a pretty good question right about now.
Spielman previously served as the Minnesota Vikings general manager from 2012 to 2021.
With the Jets hiring Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey as their new head coach and general managers, respectively, Spielman is going to be there as a helping hand for that duo. Spielman clarified during an interview on a CBS Sports podcast that he will not have the final say in any decisions.
Spielman explaining his new gig, in his own words, can be found in the clip below:
New #Jets senior football advisor Rick Spielman confirmed to @ryanwilsonCBS that he will serve as a 'sounding board' in NY.
HC Aaron Glenn & Darren Mougey are the 'final decision makers.'
