Orangeville's Tessa Janeck and Penn State gearing up for more NCAA Tournament action
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Orangeville native Tessa Janecke and the Penn State women's ice hockey team will take the ice for NCAA Tournament action later this week. The Nittany Lions will play Thursday night in Columbus, Ohio in an opening game against number 7 seed St. State qualified for the NCAA Tournament by winning the Atlantic Hockey American (AHA) championship this past Saturday with a 4-1 win against Mercyhurst. That improves Penn State's record to 35-1-1. Penn State is seeded is the third straight season that Penn State has qualified for the NCAA Tournament and the eighth time in the program's history. Penn State has never won an NCAA Tournament game. Last year the Nittany Lions lost to St. Laurence in an opening game in Madison1-0 in is a junior forward. She is far and away Penn State's leading scorer this season with 52 points (24 goals-28 assists) in 37 is also a top ten finalist for the 2025 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award which goes to the best female hockey player in the nation.
