Greenville man charged with statutory rape of person 15 or younger
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A Greenville man was arrested after Pitt County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a missing person Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Austin Riley Charles Scheels was reported missing and found to be in a relationship with a 15-year-old juvenile after an investigation.
During that investigation, probable cause was found and Scheels was charged with statutory rape of a person 15 or younger.
Scheels was taken into custody Thursday and jailed in the Pitt County Detention Center without bond.
