Advocates for police and border patrol lambasted what they said were open border policies that allowed an illegal alien suspected of killing an Air Force recruit into the country in the first place. Joe Gamaldi, national vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police, said he was disgusted to learn 18-year-old Ava Moore, a Texas native who was about to begin cadet training at the United States Air Force Academy, was allegedly killed by someone who shouldn't have been in the United States in the first place. "How many cases do we have to see where people who should not have been in this country in the first place end up causing the death or murdering someone else, someone who is here legally in this country?" he asked. "How many families have to be ripped apart? How? How much trauma do we have to take from people who should not be here in the first place?" Moore was a star basketball player at the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado whose goal was to become a four-star general. "They have no business sitting on the bench, and I'm certainly hoping that there will be every action taken to remove them from their positions because all they are at this point are radical ideologues. Daikerlyn Alejandraa Gonzalez-Gonzalez, 22, was charged with second-degree manslaughter, a felony, for allegedly striking and killing Moore while riding a jet ski on Lake Grapevine in Texas last weekend. Maikel Coello Perozo, 21, is accused of picking Gonzalez-Gonzalez up and fleeing. Authorities allege Perozo hit another vehicle while speeding off. He has been charged with a collision involving damage to a vehicle and hindering apprehension, both misdemeanors. Police reportedly found packed suitcases in the home where Gonzalez-Gonzalez and Perozo were arrested. They were identified as illegal aliens from Venezuela by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement Wednesday. Trump's Department of Homeland Security also slammed Biden's border policies in a post on X. "Ava Moore was a patriot serving her country when she was killed by an illegal alien in a hit-and-run over Memorial Day weekend. This senseless tragedy was 100 percent preventable," the post said. "Daikerlyn Gonzalez and Maikel Perozo entered the U.S. illegally in 2023 and were released into our interior," the post added. "The previous administration's open border policies have cost too many Americans their lives. Jose Ibarra, also from Venezuela, was convicted last year of murdering Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student, while she was jogging on the University of Georgia campus. Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, who lived in the Houston area, was sexually assaulted and strangled to death last year, allegedly by two Venezuelan illegal aliens accused of being members of the Tren de Aragua gang. The suspects in that case are Franklin Jose Pena Ramos and Johan Jose Rangel Martinez. Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old New Jersey mother of five, was killed by Salvadoran illegal alien Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez in 2023. Funeral Set For Ava Moore, Teen Killed In Grapevine Lake Jet Ski Crash
Funeral services for 18-year-old Ava Moore, killed in a hit-and-run jet ski crash while kayaking on Grapevine Lake during Memorial Day weekend, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at The Met Church in Fort Worth, with full military honors from the United States Air Force to follow outside the church. Moore, a 2024 Timber Creek High School graduate, was visiting her parents in North Texas when the crash occurred on Sunday. A recent graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School on May 19, she was set to join the U.S. Air Force Academy's Class of 2029 and begin basic training in weeks. The family has requested privacy as they grieve, stating, 'We are so thankful for the countless messages and demonstrations of love and support but most grateful for the many prayers we have received. This is a difficult time for all involved but also an opportunity for our beautiful girl to continue to impact our community. Out of this tragedy, God will make good and that only can be accomplished through forgiveness. We respectfully ask for our time and privacy to grieve, and thank you for all of your kindness and support. God bless.' Known for her leadership, Moore played basketball at the preparatory school and aspired to become a four-star general, according to her coach, Ke'sha Blanton. 'She talked all year about becoming a four-star general one day because she loved it,' Blanton said, per Fox 4 KDFW. 'She made those around her better.' U.S. Air Force Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind added, 'We lost an exemplary teammate this weekend – Cadet Candidate Ava Moore, whose passion for leadership and service left an impact on everyone she met. Her constant happiness and attitude helped her squadron get through the challenges of the Prep School, and her drive to excel was on display as she sought out leadership positions to improve herself and her team.' The service at 11301 N. Riverside Drive will honor Moore's legacy, with the Air Force ceremony underscoring her commitment to military service. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, with two illegal aliens in custody, as reported by The Dallas Express.

U.S. Air Force Academy Strategic Communications Moore graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School less than a week before the crash and had accepted an appointment to join the Academy as a member of the Class of 2029. According to the City of Grapevine, full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force at the end of the service. Suspects in the jet ski crash could face deportation The driver of the jet ski fled the scene by jumping into a vehicle with a man at the park, according to police. Two days later, that man and the suspected driver, Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez were taken into custody. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Dallas agents confirmed the two suspects are in the U.S. illegally. Gonzalez and Perozo are both Venezuelan nationals who are in the U.S. illegally, according to Josh Johnson, the acting Dallas field office director for ICE. Johnson said the two crossed the southern border in 2023 or 2024 and were arrested once they got to the U.S., processed and released. Once they are done with state charges, Gonzales and Perozo will be turned over to ICE and see an immigration judge to determine if they will be deported. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott revved up criminal responsibility in the death of Moore. He posted on social media, "Welcome to Texas. Here's your death penalty." CBS News Texas pressed Abbott for clarity because the suspects' charges and the facts, as written by investigators, have not reflected a capital crime. In response to the inquiry, Abbott's press office shared the following statement: "The State of Texas has no tolerance for heinous criminals who kill Texans. The victim's family deserves swift justice, and the criminal illegal immigrants should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. All Texans deserve protection from unchecked criminal activity."
