Bogie of EMU train derails near Chennai beach suburban yard, no casualties

NEW DELHI: A bogie of an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train derailed on Tuesday near Chennai beach suburban yart, but no injuries were reported and train services remained unaffected, Southern Railway officials said. The incident occurred at 11.08am while the Avadi-bound EMU was departing the yard. The fourth coach from the rear derailed while the train was moving at a speed of 15kmph. 'There were no injuries to passengers or railway staff. Importantly, train operations have not been impacted as the mainline tracks remain unaffected,' Southern Railway said in a statement. Officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the derailment. Meanwhile, rerailment efforts are underway to restore the bogie to the tracks. (With agency inputs)
