Tholons explores potential of global capacity centres in city

(GCCs) here.

He met stakeholders in the IT industry and also visited
. Vashishta, who was earlier chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of Accenture India, was also involved in drafting the GCC policy for Madhya Pradesh.
The visit was coordinated by the Association of Industrial Development (AID)-Nagpur, an organisation patronised by Union minister Nitin Gadkari. "Tholons has played a key role in establishing GCCs and
global business services
(GBS) across India, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Philippines," said a note shared by AID.
GCCs are units set up by MNCs for carrying out strategic operations, which can be game changers in a business. AID has been pursuing multinationals to set up GCCs in Nagpur as a part of its strategy to boost the IT sector here.
Vashishta visited Mihan and also held discussions with key stakeholders, including district collector Vipin Itankar. His visit also covered IIM Nagpur, where various opportunities for coordination were discussed.
He shared key policy recommendations needed for establishing GCCs in Nagpur, as Itankar assured full support from the district administration. At IIM, he held discussions with the chief administrative officer Lt Col (retd) Makrand Alur, and proposed a special course on technology advancement and entrepreneurship in collaboration with Tholons.
He also met former Rajya Sabha member Ajay Sancheti, who is also chairman of the organising committee for Advantage Vidarbha, an event organised by AID.
His visit covered the industrial area in Hingna, as well as meeting with top officials of IT companies here like HCL, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infosys, and Pragmatyc Global.
