'The Wire' Star, 43, Shares Heartbreaking News After a Tornado originally appeared on Parade. The Wire star Tray Chaney, 43, shared some heartbreaking news after being affected by a tornado. Entertainment Weekly reported that Chaney, who portrayed Malik "Poot" Carr in The Wire, let his Instagram followers know that a tornado destroyed his and his wife, Ayesha Chaney's Atlanta home, which was built in 2020. In the Instagram video, he said his 19-year-old son, Malachi, is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) because he was "thrown 300 feet out of his room" during the tornado. The actor said he was also seen at the hospital and has a bruise on his temple. Chaney said he wished he could trade places with his son, who is recovering from his serious injuries. "I wish he was the one doing the video and I was the one in the ICU," said Chaney during the May 30 Instagram video. Chaney also emotionally expressed gratitude that he and his son survived the ordeal. "I lost my house. I lost everything in it. Thank God, I'm still living. I survived a tornado. My son, he survived. I'm doing a video to let everyone know, cherish life. Cherish life as much as you can," said Chaney to his Instagram followers.
