Diyala snatch late win against Duhok in postponed Iraqi Stars League clash
Baghdad ( – Diyala SC secured three valuable points with a dramatic 2-1 away victory over Duhok SC in a postponed Round 24 Iraqi Stars League fixture. The win provides a vital boost for Diyala in their campaign.
Diyala opened the scoring just before halftime when Ayman Sfaxi converted a penalty in the 45th minute. Duhok fought back, with Siyaband Ageed finding an equalizer in the 83rd minute, setting up a tense finale. However, it was Diyala who had the final say, as Ali Al-Sajjad Sabah netted a late winner in the 89th minute to clinch the victory for the visitors.
The result sees Duhok SC, captained by Yanick Zakri and coached by Amir Azramavan, drop to seventh place in the league standings with 52 points. Diyala, under coach Talal Khalfan and captained by Mohammed Mohsen, remain in 17th position but move to 34 points, a crucial gain for the team.
