Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) is planning to set up a compressed biogas plant to generate energy from solid waste materials produced in the municipal area through galvanising organic bio-agro resources dhan (Gobar). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now MCM commissioner Ayush Sinha recently visited Nainwal village and requested 10 acres to fulfill the central govt's plan. The ministry of drinking water & sanitation launched the GOBARdhan scheme in April 2018 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). This initiative focuses on converting cattle and organic waste into energy and compost, addressing rural waste management while generating additional income for villagers. "MCM will send a proposal to the govt for setting up the CBG plant. Before that, information on the daily waste generated, including municipal, cattle, agricultural waste, cow shelters, private livestock owners, and bulk waste generators, will be gathered," the MCM commissioner said. He added that the biogas plant will not only maintain cleanliness but also help eliminate vector-borne diseases. Organic manure produced, will be used in agriculture, and gas will be supplied to households A private firm will be responsible for installing, operating, and managing the plant Sinha, earlier this week, set a 15-day deadline for the officials to clear waste at the IMT Sector 6 dumping site. He sought comprehensive information about the waste processing operations using trommel machines. Officials said there is around 4,000 metric tonnes (MT) of waste lying unprocessed at the Sector 6 site. There are two designated waste dumping and processing sites in Manesar.
