The Delhi Assembly has resolved to install portraits of Veer Savarkar, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, and Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya within its premises. Speaker Vijender Gupta announced the decision following a General Purposes Committee meeting. This move recognizes their significant contributions to India's freedom struggle, social reform, and educational renaissance, aiming to inspire future generations with patriotism and democratic ideals. Remove Ads The portraits of Veer Savarkar , Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati and Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya will soon adorn the Delhi Assembly premises, Speaker Vijender Gupta announced on Wednesday. Gupta chaired a meeting of the General Purposes Committee, which passed the resolution to honour the " national icons ".According to a statement from Gupta's office, the Committee resolved to install their portraits within the premises of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha in recognition of their enduring contributions to India's freedom struggle , social reform and educational decision was taken based on a proposal submitted by General Purposes Committee member Abhay Verma, who stated that honouring them with portraits within the Assembly complex would be a fitting tribute to their lasting legacies and would serve as a source of inspiration for future generations, reinforcing the values of patriotism , service and democratic ideals, the statement Committee's decision not only honours the immense contributions of Savarkar, Saraswati and Malaviya, but also reflects the Assembly's collective resolve to preserve democratic ideals and promote a deep-rooted sense of national pride, cultural heritage and civic responsibility among the people of Delhi, the statement quoted Gupta as saying.

Delhi Launches Free Rs 10 Lakh Health Cover For Aged 70+ Under Vay Vandana

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Monday launched the Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme, offering free health treatment worth up to Rs 10 lakh to citizens aged 70 years and above in the city. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri distributed the first Vay Vandana cards to beneficiaries at an event in the capital. Under this scheme, yearly medical assistance worth Rs 5 lakh will be provided free of cost. Additionally, Rs 5 lakh coverage will be provided under the Delhi government's scheme, making the total health cover Rs 10 lakh. Under the Vay Vandana Yojana, each registered senior citizen will be provided with a unique health card will securely store their complete health record, regular health check-up information, and emergency service details. Under this scheme, all health tests for citizens aged 70 years and above in Delhi will be conducted completely free of cost.
