Foreman Circle shooting victim's family starts GoFundMe to help with medical, living expenses
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The family of a man shot outside his home on Foreman Circle on May 15 has started a GoFundMe to raise money for his medical expenses and care after he comes home from the hospital.

News 5 previously reported that Matthew Delaney was on the phone outside his home when he was hit by gunfire. According to Delaney's family, he ran to the back of the house, noticed he was bleeding and drove himself down the road where he met a friend who took him to the hospital.
'The bullet entered through the upper end of his jaw on the left side and went down through his neck and shoulder,' Delaney's brother, James Delaney, told News 5. Mobile police said Delaney was not the intended target.
According to the GoFundMe page, Delaney's doctors are calling his survival 'nothing short of a miracle,' noting that the bullet, which traveled down his neck and exited through his shoulder, missed major arteries.
Despite that, doctors said the injury is serious and will require extensive medical treatment and recovery.
'(Doctors) did set a clear expectation that his recovery will require additional surgeries, therapy and rehab,' the fundraiser said.
Delaney was working at a local ship agency, working with the Port of Mobile, according to his family, but they say many people will know him from previous employment.
'Many of you may know him from his long-time roles at Azalea Seafood and TP Crockmiers, where his warm personality and dedication left a lasting mark,' the GoFundMe page said.
Funds from the GoFundMe will pay for medical expenses, mental health support, physical therapy and living expenses during his recovery, 'allowing Matthew to focus on healing and regaining stability,' the page said.
'Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference,' family said on the page. 'It's our turn to lift him up. Together, we can show him he's not alone in this fight.'
The fundraising goal is $40,000.
