Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar fallout: What caused the rift between the gangsters?

In a recent turnaround of events, a major rift has emerged between notorious gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. This has posed a fresh challenge for state police forces and central intelligence agencies tracking their criminal syndicate. While Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Gujarat's Sabarmati jail, Goldy Brar is believed to be operating from the United States, reported the Indian Express, adding they are no longer working together. According to the report, the split between the two gangsters may create a possible turf war within the widespread criminal network. The report further mentioned the split was caused from Lawrence Bishnoi's anger at Goldy Brar and Sachin Godara over their handling of his brother Anmol's case in the United States. 'Central intelligence agencies received information that Brar and Godara did not help Anmol file the required bail bond. Anmol was later released but with an ankle bracelet tracker,' the Indian Express report quoted sources saying. Anmol Bishnoi, 25-year-old, was taken into custody by US immigration officials for allegedly using forged travel documents in November 2024. Apart from this, Anmol as been linked to the May 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, and even named as the 'mastermind' behind the killing of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in 2024. 'Both the gangsters have decided to stop working together. Goldy has started working with Azerbaijan-based Rohit Godara while Bishnoi is now associated with Canada-based Noni Rana. This feud and their new syndicates are now a source of increasing tension for state police forces,' an official told The Indian Express. The report also mentioned that the matter was recently discussed with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) during a meeting attended by senior police officers from Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. Among other reasons that may have caused the split between the two gangsters are not giving credit while using each other's names after committing a crime. Investigations over the past few months have revealed that Noni Rana (Surya Pratap), younger brother of Haryana's Yamunanagar-based gangster Kala Rana (Virender Pratap), has been operating from the US. He allegedly made calls and collected money on behalf of Lawrence Bishnoi. While referring to Brar and Godara, the report quoted sources as saying, 'Last month, they took responsibility in a social media post for the killing of Harjit Singh, a businessman operating a trucking safety and insurance consultancy, outside his office in Canada's Mississauga… they did not mention the name of Lawrence and other gang members, which they usually do in such posts.' Lawrence Bishnoi had formed a team with Goldy Brar, Kala Rana, and others, the report said quoting sources. 'Bishnoi later made a 'business model' involving alliances with gangsters from UP (Dhananjay Singh), Punjab (Jaggu Bhagwanpuria), Haryana (Kala Jatheri), Rajasthan (Rohit Godara) and Delhi (Rohit Moi and Hashim Baba),' the report said.

Partners No More: Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar Split Over Brother Anmol

New Delhi: Gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar - in whose alliance a rift had been brewing for some time - have now 'split up', sources have told NDTV, acknowledging that this will make it more difficult for police and intelligence agencies to bust their respective criminal networks. Sources said the information came from interrogation of Bishnoi and Brar's associates. Bishnoi is currently in Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Jail, while Goldie Brar remains a wanted man; he went to the United States in 2017 and never returned, and now runs his gang from that country. According to sources, Brar has now joined hands with Azerbaijan-based Rohit Godara, while Bishnoi has tied up with Noni Rana, also known as Surya Pratap, who operates from Canada. Senior officers from the Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi police forces have met with counterparts from the National Investigation Agency to understand the impact of the 'break up'. Sources said the Bishnoi-Brar rift began with the arrest of the former's brother, Anmol Bishnoi , in California in November last year. Anmol was arrested for entering the US illegally. Bishnoi, meanwhile, has reportedly filed a plea for political asylum in the US. In March US authorities filed a request for more information - from the charges against Anmol Bishnoi to details about the evidence against him and his financial details. Sources in the intelligence community told NDTV the Bishnoi-Brar rift was because the former felt the latter, and Rohit Godara, did not help his brother in the bail bond process. Anmol Bishnoi did eventually secure bail, but was also forced to wear a GPS tracker. A furious Lawrence Bishnoi broke ties with Goldy Brar and joined hands with Noni Rana, the younger brother of notorious Haryana-based gangster Kala Rana, alias Virendra Pratap. Lawrence Bishnoi and Noni Rana have reportedly worked together over the past few months, with the latter's network making ransom and extortion calls and collecting money for the former. His Response On the murder of Moose Wala, in January Brar told British broadcaster BBC, "In his arrogance, he [Moose Wala] made some mistakes that could not be forgiven... We had no option but to kill him. He had to face the consequences of his actions. It was either him or us. As simple as that." Apart from the killing of Moose Wala and Siddique, the Bishnoi and Brar gangs have also been linked to multiple threats against Bollywood star Salman Khan, including the April 2024 incident in which gunmen opened fire at his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra area while he was inside. The actor was unhurt and the gunmen were later arrested.

Gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar part ways: What led to the breakup?

A major rift has emerged between notorious gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, posing a fresh challenge for central intelligence agencies and state police forces tracking their criminal syndicate. Lawrence Bishnoi, currently lodged in Gujarat's Sabarmati jail, and Goldy Brar, believed to be operating from the United States, are no longer working together, The Indian Express reported, citing sources. The split has raised concerns among security agencies, who fear a possible turf war or a realignment of loyalties within their widespread network, the report added. The fallout reportedly stemmed from Lawrence Bishnoi's anger at Goldy Brar and Sachin Godara over their handling of his brother Anmol's case in the United States. 'Central intelligence agencies received information that Brar and Godara did not help Anmol file the required bail bond. Anmol was later released but with an ankle bracelet tracker,' the report quoted sources saying. In November 2024, 25-year-old Anmol was taken into custody by US immigration officials for allegedly using forged travel documents. He has been linked to the May 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and is also named as the 'mastermind' behind the killing of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique last year. In addition to the killings of Sidhu Moosewala and Baba Siddique, Lawrence Bishnoi's name has surfaced repeatedly over the past three years in connection with multiple threats to actor Salman Khan, including the recent firing outside his residence. Meanwhile, Canada has accused 'agents' of the Indian government of working in collaboration with the Bishnoi gang to foment terror on Canadian soil — an allegation that India has strongly denied, the report said. Sources cited in the report said that during his early days in crime, Lawrence Bishnoi had formed a team with Goldy Brar, Kala Rana, and others. 'Bishnoi later made a 'business model' involving alliances with gangsters from UP (Dhananjay Singh), Punjab (Jaggu Bhagwanpuria), Haryana (Kala Jatheri), Rajasthan (Rohit Godara) and Delhi (Rohit Moi and Hashim Baba),' the report quoted sources as saying.

New headache for sleuths tracking gangsters: Lawrence Bishnoi & Goldy Brar part ways

For Central intelligence agencies and state police sleuths tracking the syndicate of high-profile gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, who is in Sabarmati jail, and Goldy Brar, who is believed to be operating out of the US, there is a new headache. Bishnoi and Brar have split. This is what Central agencies have concluded after questioning a number of their associates, sources told The Indian Express. 'Both the gangsters have decided to stop working together. Goldy has started working with Azerbaijan-based Rohit Godara while Bishnoi is now associated with Canada-based Noni Rana. This feud and their new syndicates are now a source of increasing tension for state police forces,' an official said. According to sources, this development was discussed with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently by police officers from Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. Sources said the split happened after Bishnoi got upset with Brar and Godara over their handling of his brother Anmol's case in the US. 'Central intelligence agencies received information that Brar and Godara did not help Anmol file the required bail bond. Anmol was later released but with an ankle bracelet tracker,' sources said. Anmol (25) was arrested by US immigration authorities in November 2024 for allegedly travelling with fake documents. He was allegedly involved in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's killing in May 2022, and was the 'mastermind' in the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique last year. According to sources, state police officers found that over the past few months, Noni Rana (Surya Pratap), the younger brother of Kala Rana (Virender Pratap), who is a known gangster from Haryana's Yamunanagar, has been making calls from the US and collecting money on behalf of Bishnoi. 'Nowadays, gangsters do not make extortion calls directly from the US but use VPN services linked to other countries,' they said. Referring to Brar and Godara, the sources said, 'Last month, they took responsibility in a social media post for the killing of Harjit Singh, a businessman operating a trucking safety and insurance consultancy, outside his office in Canada's Mississauga… they did not mention the name of Lawrence and other gang members, which they usually do in such posts.' Apart from the killings of Moosewala and Siddique, Bishnoi's name has cropped up over the past three years in connection with multiple threats issued to Salman Khan, including the firing outside the actor's house. Meanwhile, Canada has alleged that 'agents' of the Indian government were collaborating with the Bishnoi gang to spread terror on Canadian soil — a charge that India has denied. Brar (Satwinderjit Singh), the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Moosewala, was declared a designated terrorist by the Centre under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in 2024. During his initial days in the world of crime, Lawrence had formed a team with Brar, Kala Rana and others. 'Bishnoi later made a 'business model' involving alliances with gangsters from UP (Dhanajay Singh), Punjab (Jaggu Bhagwanpuria), Haryana (Kala Jatheri), Rajasthan (Rohit Godara) and Delhi (Rohit Moi and Hashim Baba),' sources said. 'Things were working smoothly between them, but then it all started changing. First, there were ego clashes with Bhagwanpuria, who was supplying weapons to them and asking for more money. After some time, Kala Jatheri also separated after he found that Godara and Brar were making extortion calls to several people in Haryana, his stronghold,' sources said.
