Father devastated after losing four children in Jerantut crash

JERANTUT: Late last night, Aziz Jaafar Noh tried contacting his four children, but none of them answered. Within two hours, his world came crashing down.
Aziz's four children, Nur Arfiqah Aziz Jaafar, 23; Mohammad Zulkifli Aziz Jaafar, 21; Mohamad Azizul Hakimi Aziz Jaafar, 19; and Nurul Hazwani Aziz Jaafar, 17, along with his son-in-law, Mohamad Ikmal Ishak, 26, were killed when an MPV collided with the Perodua Bezza they were travelling in.
The father of six appeared distraught as he watched relatives arrive at the forensic unit of Jerantut Hospital today, waiting to claim the remains of his children for burial in Bota, Perak.
Aziz, 50, said he received a call from a relative around 12.30am informing him that his children had been involved in an accident.
"Some 30 minutes later, the same caller confirmed that all of them had died. I immediately left for Jerantut.
"I had tried calling them around 11pm yesterday, but none of them answered or responded. I knew they were travelling to Jerantut and just wanted to know where they were," he told reporters at the hospital.
Aziz said his children had invited him to join the trip to Jerantut, but he could not make it as he had to attend a korban event in Bota.
He said he was heartbroken as he was very close to all his children, especially Nurul Hazwani, who was in Form Five.
He added that once the process of bathing the bodies is completed, the remains would be taken back to their hometown for burial at the Selat Bota Kanan Muslim Cemetery in Bota.
In the incident, three others, including a woman travelling in a Toyota Alphard, sustained minor injuries.
