Govt approves reinstatement of BEd teachers as science lab assistants
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet has cleared the reinstatement of over 2,600 terminated teachers as science lab assistants . It also gave nods to welfare initiatives including a rural bus service for underserved areas, land allotment for a NIELIT tech centre, and expanded support for tenant farmers under Krisak Unnati Yojana . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Providing jobs to 2,621 assistant teachers whose appointments were annulled post the 2023 recruitment, the Cabinet approved their redeployment as Assistant Teachers (Science - Laboratory). This adjustment will utilize 4,422 non-advertised vacancies, with special provisions for those lacking the required academic qualification (Class 12 with Mathematics/Science). Such candidates will be given three years to upgrade their qualifications and they must complete a two-month lab training programme by SCERT. For the remaining 355 OBC candidates, supernumerary posts will be created. Priority in postings will be given to Scheduled Areas, followed by border districts, and then other regions. The Cabinet, chaired by CM Vishnu Deo Sai, has approved the Mukhyamantri Gramin Bus Sewa Yojana to strengthen public transport connectivity in remote, tribal, and rural regions where such facilities are scarce. Under this scheme, light to medium motor vehicles (seating capacity of 18 to 42, excluding the driver) will operate on newly designated routes in the state. Permits, along with necessary facilities, will be issued through a tender process, prioritizing local residents from Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, OBCs, women, and Naxal-affected communities. Operators will receive full monthly tax exemption for up to three years from the date of permit issuance and will be eligible for financial assistance at Rs 26 per km in the first year, Rs 24 in the second, and Rs 22 in the third. Persons affected by Naxal violence will be entitled to a 50% discount. In another key decision, 10.023 acres of land in Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar has been allotted free of cost to the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) for setting up an advanced centre aimed at enhancing digital literacy and technical education. The facility is expected to significantly boost IT capabilities, equip youth with industry-relevant skills, and generate employment opportunities. The Cabinet also extended the benefits of the Krisak Unnati Yojana to farmers engaged in cultivation on leased, shared, or submerged lands. Now, those who have sold paddy or paddy seeds to cooperative societies or the State Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation during the Kharif season will be eligible for input assistance under the revised guidelines of the scheme.
