CSPD: Man arrested, charged with motor vehicle theft
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested a man who had previously eluded police and was wanted for motor vehicle theft. On Friday, Feb. 20, officers with CSPD's motor vehicle theft unit conducted a Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement (BATTLE) operation with the Colorado State Patrol. Detectives attempted to stop 20-year-old Rusty Jacob Joslin for motor vehicle theft. According to CSPD, Joslin failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and left the scene at a high rate of speed. The Colorado State Patrol air unit was able to capture the incident to include reckless driving. Due to the danger Joslin posed to the public, law enforcement was not able to stop him on Feb. 28, according to CSPD. On Wednesday, March 19, a detective spotted Joslin in the 4200 block of Hammock Drive North, near Carefree Circle, and detectives with the motor vehicle theft unit took Joslin into custody. CSPD said Joslin was found to be in possession of a loaded Baer Custom TR special 45 caliber semiautomatic handgun. Joslin was taken to the Criminal Justice Center and charged with including Motor Vehicle Theft, Felony Eluding, and Possession of a Concealed Handgun. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
