BC Welfare Minister calls upon Sagara community to live up to Bhagiratha Maharshi's ideals
Bhagiratha Maharshi, known for his unwavering faith in the face of adversity, has been a symbol of devotion. Hailing members of the 'Sagara' community, said to be descendants of Bhagiratha, for their steadfast determination, hard work and honesty, Minister for BC Welfare S. Savitha called upon them to live up to his ideals. The Minister participated as chief guest at the State-level Bhagiratha Maharshi birth anniversary celebrations at Durga Nagar, near Gajuwaka, here on Sunday. She unveiled a statue of sage Bhagiratha on the occasion. Later, addressing the gathering, the Minister recalled the determination of Bhagiratha Maharshi in bringing the Ganga river to the earth. She called upon 'Sagara' community members to utilise their 'will power' and determination to strive for the welfare of the BC community members. Ms. Savitha said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been working hard for the welfare of BCs in all fields. The BC community members have been deriving the maximum benefits from the welfare schemes being implemented by the State government. She spoke on the importance of education for the development of BCs. Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao recalled the contribution of Bhagiratha Maharshi for the benefit of mankind. He commended the efforts of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu for the development of BCs. BC Welfare Secretary S. Satyanarayana said that it was unfortunate that 'Sagarulu', who were in the forefront as descendants of Bhagiratha, were relegated to the background over the years. BC Corporation Managing Director (MD) A. Mallikarjuna elaborated on the schemes being implemented by the government for the welfare of BCs. He announced that tools would soon be given to those practising 18 different crafts under 'Aadharana 3' scheme. He called upon eligible beneficiaries to contact the BC Corporation for details in this regard. Collector M.N. Hareendhira Prasad said that a total of 2,500 units would be sanctioned in the district at an estimated cost of ₹60 crore for the welfare of BCs. Of these, 400 units have already been identified. BC Welfare Officer Sridevi, Corporators, Ward Members, BC Association leaders and local people participated in the programme.

MLA inaugurates free tailoring training programme
Tirupati: City MLA Arani Srinivasulu inaugurated 3-month free tailoring training programme, jointly organised by BC Corporation and Municipal Corporation, Tirupati in CNC Center here on Saturday. About 360 women were selected for the free training. The MLA claimed that the NDA government is committed to women development and fulfilling its assurances given to the women in the State. He said the government is taking all steps to make women economically independent. He reminded that providing free LPG cylinders was already commenced benefitting lakhs of women, while Thalliki Vandanam, another programme for women, will be implemented soon this year before schools' re-opening. ED Sridevi, former MLA M Sugunamma, Deputy Mayors Mudra Narayana, RC Munikrishna and others were present.
