SLBC lauds progress in financial inclusion
Lucknow: A meeting of the state level bankers' committee (SLBC), chaired by chief secretary (CS) Manoj Kumar Singh, was held in Lucknow on Wednesday.
The CS spoke about significant progress in
financial inclusion
in the state with the support of banks, noting that almost every family and individual in urban and rural areas has a bank account.
He also mentioned notable improvements in financial literacy and access to financial services, encouraging banks to enhance the deposit-credit ratio and strengthen credit flow in the state.
The CS highlighted the success of the
BC Sakhi scheme
, under which around 50,000 women were trained and conducted transactions worth Rs 35,000 crore. He also discussed the CM YUVA scheme, which provides loans on easy terms to youth to set up their own enterprises.
Lal Singh, executive director of Bank of Baroda and chairman of SLBC-UP, requested banks to implement centrally and state-sponsored schemes, issue
Kisan Credit Cards
for cropS, livestock and fisheries, connect all eligible individuals with social security schemes and ensure prompt resolution of pending applications in various govt schemes.
Earlier, he provided insights into various banking activities and progress under govt-sponsored schemes during the March quarter in the state.
